Our current rental property came with a washing machine, but the previous tenants had obviously never let it dry out properly after use so the door seal was thick with mouldy gunk.
The letting agent agreed to get it replaced, but when chappy came round to do it the clamp broke when he was removing the old seal so he couldn't put the new seal on. The washing machine can't be used until it's done. The new part is on order but so far has not appeared. This is getting on for two weeks and I can see it being at least three weeks in total before it's fixed.
This is obviously a bit of a PITA, there's only me and her but we both gym/swim/ride/run a fair bit so create a fair bit of washing.
I've never really rented much before, so not sure if this is something to take on the chin, or should I be asking for some sort of recompense for the unavailability of a machine that I'm effectively paying for?
Whaddya reckon?
What does your contract say, in regards to the working status of provided equipment?
I have absolutely no idea, I'll have a look.
