Rental cars and excess insurance?

So I rented a car for a while.

Today, noticed a little mark on the driver door. It's nothing I'd worry about usually, but since they've got 1500 quid excess, I'm a little worried now.

Sadly, I'm not sure if it was there or not, as when I picked it up, I was somewhat hungover, so maybe have missed it. I do have excess insurance, but should I report this now to the excess company or just leave it and claim retroactively?

The company is Drivalia, if that's any help.

Cheers!

There is nothing to report to the excess insurance company. You will claim from them only if the hire company charges you an excess.

Good point! I suppose there's no point mentioning it to anyone then.

I certainly wouldn't mention it to the hire co. Let them find it, or hopefully not find it.

I crashed a hire car ( not badly) that I had not taken their excess insurance but had my own.  I had to pay the rental company the entire excess of £500.  the repair was £350.  I claimed the £350 from my own excess insurance and had the remaining £150 returned by the rental co

I certainly wouldn't say anything to anyone at this point.
