A couple of years ago, I was hit with a charge of £400 for damage to a rental car while on holiday. Before that, I always declined the extra insurance, but now I normally pay the extra. But that adds a lot to each rental.
so does anyone know - can you buy an annual ‘excess cover’ type of thing, to cover for each holiday car rental through the year?
I have it as an extra for my car insurance, I think it costs me an extra 20 a year, it is quite common here in Germany, not sure if UK insurance companies offer the same.

We had an annual policy with Questor last year but it wasn’t the cheapest option this year. Should be about £50 for the year. Considering that’s about the same as Enterprise charged me for the waiver on a courtesy car…
