My go-to frying pan is a small Le Creuset cast iron one that was originally teflon coated but now, many years along the line the non-stick is knackered. I really want to keep the pan, it was a wedding present. I know that Le Cresuset will totally refurb but I was wondering if there is a more ecconomical, UK based service available. Any ideas?
BIN !
Not an option, at all.
Mine lasted a couple of years, such an overated brand. At least it still works as a lid.
Remove the teflon down to the iron and season it
such an overated brand.
Their non stick stuff is shite, but their big casserole numbers are fantastic.
As above sand down to the cast iron and season it (se YouTube on how to that).
After reading up on all the toxic stuff is in non stick I decided to go cart iron. It's great once you get the hang of heating up the pan slowly.
Le Crueset is probably a good cast iron below the non stick.

This was my thought also

Yep, not a fan of teflon in my food and body!
Give it a spray with GT85 just before you cook everytime. Not sure what the food will come out tasting like but it won't be stuck to the pan.

Too late for that, it's already there.
Doesn't mean you need to stop putting it in though does it. Moved away from Teflon years ago and now use Pyrex tray for oven which stuff doesn't really stick to and bits that do come straight off with a quick soak. Also use glass saucepans which are great but can't say the same for Stainless steel frying pan but still better to clean it that use Teflon.

Yep worked for mine*. Seasoned isn't non stick like teflon and you need to be following the rules about heat and when to add the food but if you do things ain't stuck you sort of peel them off.
*Angle grinder with a flappy sandy thing.
Love my Le Cruset enamelware but the none stick is pretty crap after a few years. For nonstick I just get what ever looks good at Tesco/Sainsbury (usually Tefal) and view it as a disposable after 2-3 years.
Not a snob though, I have a brilliant huge cast iron cooking post from Tesco that gets used a few times a week.
Keep the nice one and get a cheap Tefal from Tesco when cooking things prone to sticking. Just last week I splashed out £15 on a small frying pan and small saucepan from Tesco. A revelation over what we'd been using for years. I've been told to get a big pan next time I go.
If you are anywhere near Accrington Lancs there's a good local company I use for Teflon/non stick coatings that do stuff for the food industry. No doubt they'd do it for a bit of beer money
