Bought a Peugeot expert tepee a month ago, wav (insured through Brentacre btw no problems due £430)
The only gripes this far: squeaky creaks from the back door that quietens with silicone spray.
The wheelchair hoist under the second row of seats - how easy is it to receive this for a flat bed? I'm good with the unbolting bits but it's more about the wiring. How do I identify the fuse in the fuse box that controls it? If I remove this fuse/fuses what do I do about the exposed wires when I remove the main host and auxiliary ones either side? These look like beefy power users so can't just unbolt and cut the wires!!
Anyone any help?

Can you not trace them through and remove them completely? Probably a few hours work and removal f trim but it'll be done properly.

I did it for an AA van. There were some chunky wires there.

If I get the chance I’ll ask someone at work - this is what we do, refurb ex-Motab vehicles, and that sort of kit is usually removed. I’ll take a screen grab of this and get some details from one of the workshop bods.

Most WAVs, unless it's a one off will have a type approval and certification for the conversion.

If you know who did the conversion give them a call or drop them an email. You might have to wait a couple of weeks to hear back but it might save a lot of grief.

I expect you know this but if it's got ramps etc then there's a good chance some spares (like exhausts) won't be available off the shelf.

It did have a ramp but that was easy removed with a panel saw 🤣

The wheelchair lift will have its own fusebox run directly from the battery I would have thought.

With this sort of work you should disconnect the battery anyway, and then remove cables up to the fuse holder or battery anyway.

Check if there is a second battery, if the lift is designed to be used with the engine off it might have an extra one.

Process of elimination?

Most fuseboxes have the fuses identified on the lid.

It's going to be a beefy fuse, find the odd one out, pull it and then see if it still works.

Disconnect the primary battery then test the hoist. If it doesn't have power then no secondary battery... if it does then can't be too many places to hide it but then you just need to find and remove it or repurpose it. [internal lights, bike wash pump... compressor]

Just a guess but if there is it probably has a second set of VERY BEEFY charging wires directly from the alternator.

Is the stuff you are removing worth anything?
If it is, would the company who fitted it remove it for 'free' if you let them keep the stuff coming out? At least you would know if's been removed by someone who knows what they're doing and the stuff gets recycled too

It probably doesn't ... but if it does have a secondary (leisure type) battery I'd not be in a rush to remove it.

Even if it doesn't though better to repurpose the wiring to the rear even if you use it to power some lighting and a car pump (that can charge an airshot) or bike washer etc.

Work with what you have rather than spending time and money taking out potentially useful wiring ... you might want to change switches (I'd guess the hoist is a press up/down type rocker) and add some cigar type plugs etc. but presumably plenty of room where the motor currently is?

Likely to be fed direct from the battery as it's not a factory fitted item but aftermarket. I'd be looking on the battery itself under the bonnet to see if there are any additional wires (and if so likely positive will have a fuse close to battery).

@steveh, the battery is in the driver footwell and you were 100% right, straight off the battery. Wires isolated at the switch and the 3 motors removed, wiring in tact and out the way Seems like a chance to put in at least 1 more 12v socket and get the floor ply lined 🙂 Luckily my best mate is a camper converter so on a social trip he sorted it within 20 mins 🙂

I'd definitely take the opportunity... if you wanted to do it anyway it would be loads of hassle getting the wiring in... some ply lining and good lighting will really make it more of a mobile workshop with the option to run a mobile bike wash and tubeless inflator... rechargeable tool/vacuum option chucked in.

Glad there are so many smart folk on here who could help with this, we’re so busy at work I couldn’t find any time to go and interrogate those who might know how to do this. Things only really quietened down after 6pm, and they all go at 5!
