The dates, which are meant to tell customers when food is safe to eat, will be replaced by best-before dates instead, which are recommendations on freshness.

TBH I had actually read all the article, but my overwhelming rage obviously blinded me to all the details. It was only after I had thought about it a minute (& because completely removing any date was such a stupid idea) I decided to re-read it a bit more slowly.
