I have mark on my frame which I think is just the paint but want to check to see if the frame is actually cracked before I decide what to do with it. What's the best way of removing a small section of the powder coat? I've heard somewhere that nitromors doesn't work on powdercoat?

I'd probably use sandpaper or emery cloth for a small area rather than a scraper, but yeah some mechanical means rather than chemical.

Cheers both - all sorted with some emery cloth and no crack in the frame!

Result! Now awaiting follow up thread, "how to best repair a patch of missing powder coat"

Probably better it’s been sanded down to bare metal, once water got into that crack, corrosion would have gradually lifted the powder coat off of more and more of the frame - that would have required the frame to be media blasted and re-painted.

Not something I have to worry about with the bike I’m currently riding, it doesn’t have much paint on, just a thin coat of Matt lacquer - it’s developing a nice patination… 🙃
