My main laptop is about to die I think and I've since got a decent desktop PC (mostly for astrophotography processing these days) so I am thinking of replacing laptop with Chromebook and then simply remoting in with Chrome Remote Desktop, which is what I was increasingly doing anyway, and is what I do to remote into my astro acquisition mini PC so it's a tried and tested way of me working.
Question is: are all Chromebooks created equal for this task? Surely it's just a browsing task and not so dependent on the hardware as long as it can connect to internet? I would obviously want to see what the keyboard etc is like but any opinions on this? Many thanks!
We did this at work during the pandemic when everyone was working from home. Seemed to work ok. Few complaints about resolution and screen size but other than that it was pretty successful.
I’ve done it but the cheapo chrome book I had didn’t have a very nice display so wasn’t something I’d be wanting to use for long durations.
Yeah that's my worry - that the hardware will get boring to use - I've been on a nice(ish) Lenovo laptop for a number of years that's got a nice keyboard and a decent screen. The keyboard in particular, if that's a shocker it can get old very quickly. Thanks both!
