I have landed a good job in Pamplona, Spain. For personal and professional reasons it’s a great opportunity for me and my wife and we can settle down near to her family. For the last 1.5 years we been in Amsterdam but not really settled due to a tough job, losing a baby and then feeling too far away from home.
It's a drastic change in fortunes for the riding, and all the other mountain sports we like doing.
I know there are a few others from Spain posting on here, and I'd be grateful for pointers as to what's good, where to ride and hopefully hook up with some folks.
Adios todo.
Al.

Pamplona is one of the best zones in Spain for riding. You´re in the Pyrenees in 40 minutes, same to the Basque coast. Then you have mountains all around. Nice place to live, quite a big city but loads of cool places. I have lots of friends from there and ride there often. My guide for 2013 also lives there at the moment and our holidays on the Basque Coast usually spend a day round about Pamplona. My season is about to start and things are going to get totally crazy for the next few months but once things calm down I´ll show you about and, if you´re OK with the lingo, introduce you to a few guys for riding. Drop me a mail if you want and we´ll look at times and options to get out on the bikes. (I´m sure my mail´s in my profile but it´s not hard to find on my site either.)

Congratulations by the way, you really are moving to a cool spot!

thanks for the links, iffoverload!

Yeah, feeling rather chippa. I know north Spain fairly well; my wife's from Santander and we've spent a lot of time in the the Cantabrian mountains and Picos. I love it there, though had not been to Pamplona before. Topographically I see that there's loads of good riding potential, and then there's the climbing and hiking and camping... da da da:)
My Spanish is good enough and in a few months I feel I should be up to scratch for the family dinner table 6 conversations at once!

Doug, many thanks for the offer, i'll drop you a line in May when we've settled in a bit then come autumn i'd love to hook up for rides.
