I recently brought a second hand car from dealer for 5000 , the first issue with the car was a warning light come on within the first 20 miles the dealer was a bit of an arse but fix the issue (oxgene sensor) . Now 2 weeks latter well driving around the corner the drivers seat all of a sudden start to move alott. Took into the garage and it looks like the seat has been broken in the past and had a support bar welding in but when you get the wrong angle the seat pops outs and moves. Dam dangerous. The dealer first said the seat was not covered , I said fine and hanged up but he emailed me and says he has a seat in his yard and happy to fix it as good will. The car is dangerous , I do not trust the guy and as it's within 30 days can I reject it under consumer rights act?
Check the which site - it has loads of good info.
If the fault was there when you bought it and is provable that that is the case then it's 100% the dealers issue, and under the consumer rights act you have the right to have the dealer repair it.
The seat issue is dangerous, so dealer has to fix.

It's not up to the dealer to decide what's "not covered", which he obviously had second thoughts about hence the email. He has the right to repair it so I'd accept his offer. Interesting that he keeps spare seats in stock!

A Jarre ing experience.

“Not covered” by what ?
and happy to fix it as good will.
He knows his earlier “not covered” statement makes no sense at all but doesn’t want to admit it.
I'm currently going through the same with a dodgy van I bought. Dealer has gone quiet as he's "on holiday in Mexico". This thread is from a dealers perspective but scroll down to find the post from GreenGiant: http://cardealermagazine.co.uk/forum/topic/1652-customer-wants-refund-advice-please/
I've sent a letter giving them 14 days to respond (equivalent to a letter before action). There is a helpful guide on which.co.uk which gives you a template. If they don't respond and agree then I'm planning to raise a case via MCOL ( https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk). That does come with some fees but at this stage I'm not ready to let the dealer get away with this as I was totally mis sold.
The dealer I bought from is small time but established and trades under this site on ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/mikesv-44 and also under TR Fleet Sales. Avoid!
