The Rega seems to be a popular choice so I'm guessing there may be one or two on here
I bought a second hand immaculate looking 3 but couldn't believe how harsh it was sounding with the Audio Technica so bought an Ortofon 2mr blue and it now sounds great exactly what I wanted for the few times I play vinyl
Just wondering what the singletrack Rega posse are using at the sharp end
The AT never got near Donald Fagen,Cat Stevens or Al Green just old albums I'm not too fussed about
Rega offer the Planar 3 with a choice of two cartridges.
I went for the Exact as it just sounded better.

AT do quite a range of cartridges, I’m not familiar with modern turntables or what they’re fitted with, but I’d guess it’s pretty basic. Planars have always been good, so it’s certainly worth spending a good proportion of the overall cost on a cartridge - it’s the bit that transcribes all those teeny little wiggles scratched in a flimsy bit of rotating plastic, after all, so to do it’s job as well as possible, it’s got to be well engineered.
