Feels a bit 'wrong' to ask for or accept refunds from organisers who are already operating close to the line. I had a few fell/trail races lined up this Easter/Summer, all of which are cancelled. For the sake of a tenner (fell race) I'm not interested in getting that back if it helps the race survive into next season. If they credit me with it in next year's entry, fine, but I don't expect that.
Trail races are a bit dearer, 50eur for 42k events - again, happy to leave that with the organising committee as I'll likely enter next year. However this season adds up to some 200eur which I couyld use right now, being self employed!
What are youse doing?
heaven of the south offered three options, refund of £40 less small admin fee, Defer entry till next year or donate entry fee to local food bank. I like very many took the third option.
That's an excellent idea, haven't seen that so far
From the races that I entered that have been cancelled - I've asked the organisers to keep all of my entry fees (to cover their costs and to consider a donation to a food bank).
I'm self employed, but fortunate that I can continue to work from home though.
I had five escape rooms booked. Rather than strip money out of a relatively new industry where many venues probably aren't going to survive this crisis, I've deferred the games indefinitely to play when we're back to normal.
