In your experience, would most bike shops allow you to return something bought in error only yesterday if you returned it unopened, or am I imagining a level of customer service that doesn't exist in this sector?

It wasn't expensive or a special order or anything.

Yes, normally. They might offer you a credit rather than a refund, which I think is fair.

But it depends what it is.

Don't need to ring them. They said today they "don't do refunds".

I know I'm not entitled to it and they're well within their rights but I won't be using them again anyway. Why bother when there are other shops that'll offer better service, eh.

Oh, they will let me swap it for something else btw so it's not a total disaster. :O)

No, I didn't but I don't need them either. Thanks though.

Could you maybe find some charitable use for them? Or just eat them yourselves if you like.

Here, you guys might be able to answer a wee question for me.

A friend has offered me a Cannondale 3 series (he thinks) MTB that's about 16 years old for £100. Now, I know it's old but it's got to be worth more than that, right? It's all the original kit but everything works as far as I can see - good condition. I could do with it for towny use mostly but I don't want to rip him off. Problem is I've no idea what such a thing might be worth. £200-ish? More? Less? I've no idea.

give him £50 and a dead arm. final offer.

(£100 may be fair... they arent worth a huge amount. if its worth £200 to you then do £200)
