We have a wifi extender which delivers 5mbps to my shed.
I listen to Radio Caroline via Tune In Radio on my Echo Dot.
It's like playing pass the parcel as every single song cuts out. I'm assuming it's buffering so I would have thought reducing the stream rate would help me to hear a song all the way through.
Can I do it and how?
5Mbps should be plenty, it might be more it's disconnecting or dropping packets occasionally. I don't think there's a way on an Echo to adjust the stream bitrate.
If you have a decent free data allowance (and 4G signal) I'd just use your phone and create a WiFi hotspot on it that the Echo connects to. Or if your phone gets a decent WiFi connection you could swap to a normal Bluetooth speaker paired to the phone and use the Tune-In app - it might let you adjust the stream bitrate to.
If I listen to BBC Sounds it's perfect.
Tried to listen via Radio Player and that was even worse. Might just get a dab plus radio.
