Bad night for horses tonight, I’ve managed to kill no less than 4 of my own and half a dozen others, crime doesn’t seem to pay!
Didnt have much to do on the map so robbed a stage coach, got jumped by Driscolls and killed along with the 2 horses. Left in the wilderness, bagged a guy for a lift, he was rude so I shot him, his horse bolted and left me alone again only now I’m wanted, 3 weeks of cross country walking later a find a moonshine camp, decline to help them find anything but they didn’t seem to mind me taking their horse, which promptly threw me at the sight of an alligator 🐊 . They’re easy to kill.
Got to the fence and sold a tonne of stuff for $300 and now I’m off to pay my bounties and hopefully find a new mission!
If you have no money on you, you can get rid of your bounty by going to jail. Just go to a town in the area you have a bounty, smack or shoot a local and wait for the law to come. Make sure you have holstered your weapon and surrender to the law. You get thrown in jail for a minute and then free to go.
If you have money on you, then they take a chunk of it off you as well as throwing you in jail.
Getting jailed doesn't seem to have any other impact I can see.
how much is a chunk? can you stash your money somewhere? im felling flush after robbing an armoured security van (coach) and looting a few homesteads. id like to hide it away before turning myself in...
bounty hunters are a PITA. also witnesses seem to have super spidey senses and can spot my ill deeds from miles away!!
Wear a mask when doing crimes and find a sheltered place as possible. If your crime is witnessed and you can't kill the witness then leave the area asap.
I understand jail time can be quite lengthy depending on the crime that's if they don't just kill you.

That worked for me in Valentine, so I moseyed over to Strawberry to repeat the trick. walked into jail, spoke with a deputy nothing, opened a draw in his office in front of him, nothing, took something and all that came was a hail of bullets, I tried to surrender, no dice, so I gunned him down and the town turned on me - went down blazing and all that happened when I came back was my bounty was higher.
Also, I rode into Blackwater, it looks just like it did in RDR only nicer, didn't end well.
yeah my bouny got a bit silly in that new orleans esque town. any tips on gunfights, i keep getting capped, if that is the correct term. Tried shitting them and it hasnt worked so may try shooting
I considered it, but I'm really enjoying the game. I'm sure R* will release official cheats soon enough, but if I suddenly had $100k or whatever and got to upgrade everything immediately I'm robbing myself of gameplay really.
I found that gold bar early on in Chapter 2, so no glitch for me. Can't say not having thousands of $ has been a problem for though, I don't seem to be spending much.

Well my TV arrived today. It's pretty spectacular in 4K amazing backdrops and details.
Getting to grips with upping my stats so just mucking about as keep on getting shot to bits as I sneak up on a tiny camp and find it's got seven guys in it.
Some of the missions are so atmospheric with the use of music and cinematics.

Just figured out you can use dynamite on the safes when robbing a train, feel a bit stupid it took me so long considering all the westerns I've watched! Going to try hitting the bank in Saint Denis, it's marked on the map like the other shops but no symbol, just a black circle. I've walked in to see it but not sure how dynamite will go down with the authorities in the city.
Just got it and 70% loaded. I've got the attention span of a butterfly with games nowadays so hopefully this will drag me in.
Where should I take my kills?
If you leave them stowed on your horse, you can give to patterson or other butchers by selecting it from the horse satchel in the sell screen. Alternativly skin them and give them the meat. Don't know what difference it makes to the price/amount harvested leaving them whole or skinning them first.

On your horse if you cycles through the weapons toylly find the knives.
Throwing knives are on the same place as your lasso, just cycle through until you see them, I've got a tomahawk in there as well from somewhere.
ah that makes sense didn't cycle through that one, they could make the stealth mission a little easier
I never found the throwing knifes so used the bow and then went all Rambo with a shotgun when it kicked off
I was on earlier for a little as I'm on nights. Before logging off I went on a shotgun rampage too see how many limbs I could take off, it got messy.

I’ve managed to stay interested by it although it hasn’t blown me away like gta5 did on the PS4. Graphically it’s great but I find it’s all a bit slow and Barron. Maybe progress will open up more but it’s not bad just not as good as gta

I’m currently pottering about still - have decided to try to go after some of the legendary hunts and a bit of exploring so story has taken a bit of a back seat.
At what point do you unlock the ‘goat’ mission from John that gets you the scoped rifle? I fancy progressing up until that point and then I can concentrate on hunting a bit more

Well since you mentioned it I have started noticing how much my horse shits!! It's legendary in that respect is it a diet thing?
since seeing it on reddit i now love tackling people with the melee option. depending on where you are you have different options for hiw to dispatch them. for example tackle them in shallow water and you can drown them, tackle then holding a lasso you can immediately hog tie them, or holding a SO shotgun you can do this

Just saved a random bloke from being gunned down by loan sharks.
Went to talk to him whilst he was enthusing at me; accidentally hit the wrong button and drew my gun; he went "WTF?" and shot me; I killed him him self-defence, a witness ran to the sheriff; I didn't quite catch him in time, got to the sheriff just as the 5-0 appeared from everywhere; tried to surrender but hadn't stowed my gun so they started blasting; I went "bugger it, I'll go down in a blaze of glory" and got shot to ribbons after racking up a massive bounty.

Controls dragging tonight. Completing the train robbery is a faf when he’s climbing all over the carriage and the single action button is flashing between picking up my victims, opening draws and changing hats constantly.
Anyone else fastidously burning as many as there victims on campfires as possible? Asking for a friend...
My friend has not tried burning people......
... my other friend found throwing them into rivers and off cliffs to work quite well, them and the witnesses and maybe just passers by
My friend might be planning on hijacking a train a Riggs Station, stopping on the big high up bridge at Bard's Crossing and throwing the passengers off one by one.
I've also heard down south you can get going through the racists too, mow a couple down with the horse and mop the rest up with a shotgun at night

Played just over an hour last night and got up to the end of the first hunting part. Really enjoying it actually. I haven't had a game I can get into for a while now so really looking forward to progressing with it. Luckily the Mrs is out on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings! There goes any attempts to complete my training program on Zwift!
Getting proper annoyed at the lack of inventory space now. Putting all efforts into trying to get the new satchels done so it unlocks the last one which I think has 99 slots of every type

Turned up in a new town. Some nobber immediately pulled a gun on me for no reason. I shot him back first, five witnesses to murder, all hell rained down, I hit the power button and am going to bed. Bah.
Saint Denis? Yeah I ran over a chicken there so the locals srpinted towards me resulting in one get KO'd by Dobbin. Then the shit storm started.

I quite like the carbine but the pistol is rubbish!
Dual pistols, carbine, shotgun and bow cover most situations.

Well my high and lowlights include stealing a train and running over my good horse by mistake (saddle got stuck under the train with bits of horse)
Went on a bit of.a rampage and totted up a huge bounty in one of the other towns/areas guess where we relocated to for chapter 3.....
yeah that is the only negative for me at the moment, acting in self defence (honest!) but being grassed up and then set upon!
still to hogtie anyone to the rail tracks too, always too many witnesses and the cavalry turn up before the deed is done.
many enemies got cooked on the fire last night tho, but they dont scream enough when they're burned alive 🙁
I had an entire town open fire on me last night after I accidentally trampled one of their pigs with my horse. Then after I escaped some hillbillies took a potshot at me, I gave chase to give them a stern talking to, and I fell into a pit they'd dug. After escaping that and shooting them in the balls, I set up camp following a nice relaxing hunt and 2 more hillbillies came and threatened me for camping in their territory. So they also got shot.
It's almost like the game wants me to murder people!
Can anybody recommend missions to do to build health etc? I am slowly getting into it but could do with being harder to kill (I have spent most of the last week hunting) So need to actually start playing it properly.
Get into fights, few good punch ups improves your health.

Do you have to wait till later in the game for the gang donations to unlock? I get to camp and it whines that the ammo etc boxes are empty but I can't seem to interact with any of them bar the petty cash box.
Just started chapter 4 last night, I think there are 6 in total, progress is showing as 48% complete. I'd hate to know how many hours I've put into it so far.

Next to the cash box is a ledger, press one button to donate and the other to read the ledger. In the ledger you can buy upgrades for camp as well as refill supplies, but you need the money to do so.

Spend some cash to upgrade the camp.
One of the most important aspects of the camp is upgrading its looks to get bonus content. Here's how to unlock the Ledger and Camp Upgrades.
- Beat the first 5 missions in Chapter 2 to unlock Money Lending and Other Sins.
- Complete the mission Money Lending and Other Sins a Leopold Strauss mission, who can be found in the camp.
- After completing this mission, you can find the Ledger next to the tithing box to put the camp's money to good use.
- Consider buying the Leather Working Tools in the Ledger first (see below).
