Trying to catch up on the XC from Nove Mesto and DH from Fort William, but it is unwatchable.
The footage is so grainy you can't see any detail. I'm watching on my TV through my laptop with HDMI cable.
Does everyone have this problem or is it my internet at fault.

How long have you watched it for? On my TV app it's usually grainy to begin with but then goes fine after a minute or two (presumably after it's worked out what the best bit rate is for your connection).

Check what resolution your TV is set to (as a display on your laptop).

We tend to mirror image it from Samsung phone to Samsung smart tv, picture is usually bang on but the sound sometimes goes out of sync.

Thanks, I'll check resolution. I lasted 15min before I gave up because it was so bad quality

Mine was HD on live stream- my broadband is dead slow too, so you should be able to get a decent picture

It's clear on my old generation 2 Apple TV over 5GHz Wi-Fi.

This is a shot in the dark but,

Playing video over HDMI on my (granted, ten years old) laptop is choppy is hell if I have the screen mirrored; if I disable the internal screen then it plays just fine. I guess the inbuilt GFX chip doesn't have sufficient grunt to drive FMV on both at once.

Failing that - Get a Chromecast?

I was sat watching the "Broadcast Will Begin Shortly" screen on the Sky TV Redbull App. After a quite a while I checked the Redbull website on my phone where it was already half way through the women's finals. Anyone else had this?

Yeah I've given up using the sky app as it's balls, Chromecast works perfectly though.

RedBull is pretty flaky compared to the likes of YT, Netflix etc.

Sometimes (I don't recall last time I saw it though) it's the feed from the event to the web that's bad and it's blocky however bad your connection is. I don't know if they can fix that for the replay.

If you've got a decent connection I'd bet on a display issue with the laptop. A lot of laptops, even new ones are 1366x768 which isn't a TV res, it should just sort it all out, but if you're mirroring the screen it might not.

My Advice? buy a NowTV device for £10 or whatever they cost now. The native RedBull app is pretty good.

Thanks for the replies, I'll faff with the resolution and see if that helps,

My picture's generally fine but it's user interface is rubbish, I'm always going to the wrong menu and the FF/REW goes in big chunks (this doesn't help you but thanks for letting me get it off my chest).

App available on Samsung smart tv, maybe worth checking if you have another brand to see if there’s one available.

I use a chromecast for anything like this, they are a brilliant cheap bit of kit.

Works perfectly through my firestick too, haven't tried the app on virgin box yet.

Perfectly fine through my Samsung TV. Picture is great. Watched the Fort William DH last night.

Usually takes a min to buffer up but otherwise no issues.

What's the OP's internet connection like, bandwidth wise?

Yup - showing a large video image + audio on screen and on the laptop screen at the same time slows things down heaps

Thanks for all the replies. Watched the DH through my phone and wireless connection, the quality was better, but it kept stalling quite frequently and a glitch kept skipping back to the start a few times which was annoying.
Currently watching the XC on my laptop via HDMI with the screen switched off and it's spot on so far.

Thanks
