We've 3 spaniels so am daily walking them in the woods. Have a bit of knee discomfort (possibly lateral ligament damage which has caused a bit of bone on bone aggravation VS 'bandy legs' + knee injury from the past coming home to roost) which the medics are struggling to pinpoint, but it's mild-ish rather than severe. Rather than accept exploratory operations, I'm keen to try physio / rehabilitating the knee first.

Have been recommended to consider alternative types of walking shoe - currently I use (depending on weather) (a) Timberland boot (b) Asics trainer.

Anyone got any recos for shoes (ideally summer friendly) that might assist walking style / knees? (And sorry, I know I'm being vague but just really looking for types to consider).

Ta

Have you seen a podiatrist? Maybe you could get insoles made up rather than buying new shoes. I was referred to a podiatrist by my physio, and it does seem to have made a difference, although it's taking a while to get it exactly right. Where are you based?

I get on very well Keen for walking shoes. Good arch support and nice and wide.

Also Salomon 'off road type' trainers have been good too.

Superfeet insoles have helped me out in walking boots too, not cheap, but have stopped niggles on multi day walks.

Podiatrist or biomechanist, get some custom insoles. Not cheap, but worth it for helping your knees.

If you spend any time in London, the guy I've been to is at Crystal Palace Sports Injury Centre, but I think he also works some of the week in Docklands. If it's any use to you, have a look at the CPSIC website to get his full name - there's only one podiatrist there.
