My dear aged mother has a dear aged laptop that just isn't doing it any more. She needs something for email, surfing and the odd Word document. I'm thinking a Chromebook with O365 may be a good option. I've got a spare licence for O365 on my agreement and she has a budget of £250 and would like a 14" screen. Anyone any recommendations they'd care to share?
I've been looking at the Acer with 2GB RAM and 32GB HD. Should be enough for her needs but I'd be interested in other forumites experiences.
Thanks in advance.
We got our niece one of those Acers a couple of years ago and they're great. Simple, nothing to go wrong battery lasts ages, instant switch on, and free use of online office if you Google docs doesn't suit.
I've also got a 4 year old one that's still going strong. Install chrome remote desktop to make sorting issues out remotely easy.
I love my aging one...I replaced it with a £700 windoze laptop (which I dropped and broke within a few months) and now back on the Chromebook (with a bolt araldited into the chassis and a metal P clip literally bolted through the screen bezel!) It must be well over 3 years old and the battery life still beats the new Windows laptop by far, the only thing I notice now is the screen is cheap and not at all vibrant.
Your Mum may be OK with the built in Google Docs, its a very easy transition from Office.
