If it was more socially acceptable and I wasn't so self conscious I wouldn't bother, I'd just ride/run in just lightweight shorts but here we are!

I already have a few vest tops, but what they give in extra ventilation via arm pits they take with material thickness everywhere else. The material is too substantial, I'm looking for something very lightweight, barely there, similar to the very lightweight t-shirts I bought from Mountain warehouse a few years back, and more recently, a couple of Endura Singletrack print t-shirts have also been very lightweight.

Anyone got anything pls?

Also, not black, and not something you need to be a body builder to look good in!

I bought a couple from H&M last year which are pretty much what you are talking about, very light fabric and more of a sleeveless T than the very loose gym style. Only downside of the light fabric is it gets pulls very easily, but otherwise they've been pretty durable.

I bought exactly what you're describing in the Wiggle closing down sale. It's DHB branded so might now be available at Evans?

Bah - I had a look on Evans website and can't find it. SportsDirect do a very breathable Nike AeroSwift vest though. That might do you (at a cost).

One of my Fox tops is exactly like that - you hold it up to the light and realise that it is actually a very large amount of small holes sown together.

But I can't help you beyond that as it's quite old and I can't remember what it is called. But it is by Fox

Look at running vests, most of them are very lightweight.

But if you Google running vest it just brings up results of those stupid mini rucksacks every jogger seems to sport these days.

I'm really keen to find some too. Something suitable for summer HaB without making people ill.

I have an Inov-8 one which is really light. Picked it up on offer from sportsshoes a couple of years ago so probably worth a look.

Uniqlo Airism sleeveless tops? I’ve taken to wearing Slazenger sleeveless tee shirts* ; very light and comfy, perfect for warm weather, and at least my whole arms get a tan. I do wear Uniqlo ribbed cotton vest tops as well, doing archery has at least given my arm muscles a bit more definition, so I don’t look like a pasty white Northern European old bloke anymore!

*I get mine from Sports Direct, there’s a branch in town, and they constantly have ‘buy two, get a discount’ offers.

The OP is after something 'more socially acceptable', like a tee shirt. I don't think that a sleeveless running vest which allows the rich pungent aromas of testosterone to waft from your manly armpits quite fits the bill

Fairly sure this is one of the ones I picked up in the Wiggle madness - if so it might be what you're after. Super light but really soft too. Lot more expensive from Evans though.

I also have some super cheap ones from Decathlon which are nice and cool but more of a mesh material, which is a bit like a cheese grater on my fragile nipples. Fine for riding; okay for running as long as it's not too long (I once got back to the in-laws from a hot 10k and my daughter said 'Daddy! Have you been shot?' pointing at the bloodstain over my right nipple (that I hadn't even noticed).

Well that's a hole different level of social acceptance I'm not that fussed about when riding or running! Just more socially acceptable than going round bare chested when not on the beach on a scorching hot day.... and then only sociably acceptable in the sense of appeasing my self consciousness!

Lululemon done some that are shaped more like a t-shirt (nice lightweight breathable one) with the arms chopped off, rather than bodybuilder plunge neck style.

I think they are designed for west coast hot yoga studios, so very much socially acceptable in Vancouver and San Fran (I wore one this morning in Cannock Chase).

Basketball shirts and vests might be what you want. My preferred gym shirts are the sleeveless tee type, but both those and the singlet type are usually lighter weight and airy. Tons on Sports Direct et al once you search for basketball shirts.

Perhaps one of the undertops from lecol ?

The sleeveless base layers are really good

I’ve got a sleeveless cycling top from one of the Canadian companies, it’s a synthetic with a fairly open weave at the front, in an olive green, with a black mesh back, had it years and it’s been brilliant, but they no longer produce anything like it, just standard tee shirt style and long sleeve shirts. Shame, I’d buy a bunch of them, but lots of searching has failed to find anything close.

Is this not something a search for 'lightweight sleeveless tee' would answer? Given that the OP doesn't actually seem to be looking for a vest-top at all?

The best lightweight fabric I've used is Patagonia's lightest weight Capilene Cool, but as far as I'm aware, there's no sleeveless version of that. You could always buy something like that and hack the sleeves off for that sought-after anarcho sports tech look...

I'm not convinced that, with a lightweight fabric anyway, the cooling gains from going sleeveless are that great anyway and after yesterdays ride through the Longdendale jungle, I think I'd want some anti-scratch shoulder protection anyway.

I've got Salomon, under armour and Nike ones that are lightweight and airy. Nike one is a tennis one from the rapha Nadal collection, I got it at an outlet shop though.

Start fitness are good for this sort of thing, but decathlon will do some as well.

Here you go £6.99.

I got that DHB running vest in the closing sale as well, took me a while to get the courage to wear it but it's super light & comfy. And it'll come in handy for my Die Hard fancy dress costume.

So +1 look for running vest tops.

Start Fitness always have bargains:

I have a couple of those Decathlon ones. They're the ones that made my nipple bleed.
