Taking Mr S to the cairngorms for his 30th bday, but of mountain biking, some whiskey etc.

Staying in Aviemore part of the time - any recommendations for good pub grub?

Not pub, but for breakfast or coffee and cake Mountain Cafe is hard to beat. A bit too popular now though so often a bit of a wait at busy times.

Will ponder pub grub, don't often eat later in the day there.

Good food in Aviemore?

You could always nip up to the Ptarmigan restaurant on Cairngorm and try one of their award-winning Scotch meat pies....

http://www.internationalstarters.co.uk/aviemore-restaurant.html is pretty good (mum and dad think so anyway!)

we've always liked this place as well. Not fancy, but always a pretty good atmos:

http://www.highrange.co.uk/la_taverna_ristorante.htm which is just on the way into Aviemore when you come from teh south.

I am sure there are a lot more options, but those 2 have been frequented by us.

Actually quite interested to see what else comes up on this topic!

Infamous Burger from the Cairngorm Hotel should fill you up, Mountain Cafe also has plenty of nice stuff to eat too.

La Taverna
Looks tacky but great food - especially the pizza.
YUM!

+1 for Andersons, more restaurant than pub grub though.

Thanks, some good options.

Happy to have restaurant food as well, depends though on what we spend on the first part of the hol which is a complete surprise and i can't put in case he reads!

Liking the look of the Infamous burger, and also pie night but won't be there on a wed 🙁

The small restaurant in the (Hilton) Coylumbridge Hotel is pretty good. It's called Terracotas.

Much nicer than the main restaurant.

The chicken and steak fahitas are excellent.

I'd also recommend the Old Bridge Inn. Good selection of beers too.

I can't recommend the Old Bridge Inn highly enough. Seriously, seriously good food, though not the cheapest in town.

International Starters is also pretty good and give you the chance to sample/share a few different dishes.

Cairngorm Hotel is where I choose to stay if I'm in Aviemore and the food there has never let me down either.

For cake, nip up the Spey to the Inchriach Nursery. It's the law!

Another vote for the Mountain Cafe.

You can go wrong there for daytime food, worth a bit of a wait on the stairs every time.

I had an epic curry in the curry house just by the station.

TELL ME THE HAPPY HAGGIS LIVES ! Many memories of childhood holidays - we had a house in Coylumbridge we went to every other weekend ....

The Cafe above Active Outdoor (Cafaidh?) is also very good btw. And they have free WiFi.
