Yep, went in January a good few years back. Are you doing the parks or looking to sample Miami & the Keys? We did both over 14 nights.

Going back in June for 14 mights in Disney. Should be a lot warmer than last time.

Bit of all sorts really stumpyjohn - the kids (seven and eight) will, I'm sure, love the parks, but mrsmitch wants to do some chillin' as well.

10 days isn't long enough we went the end of December last year and went to magic kingdom for new years eve 😀 thye were busy and apparently shut the gates as they were full in magic kingdom at iirc 92 thousand people!
We stayed just off international drive and had a free shuttle bus to the parks.
Buy your park tickets before you go as we saved a fair bit over the gate prices, we went to disney and universal and also a day trip to kennedy.
Buy some decent walking shoes.

Took the family in 2010 & spent a week in Orlando to do the theme parks & a week on the Gulf coast at Clearwater to give us some chill out time by the beach & pool. Can't recommend Virgin holidays highly enough. The villa in Orlando was amazing, the hire car was a beast (black Chevrolet Suburban) & the Marriott at Clearwater was great too. A brilliant holiday & one we'd love to do again.

Travel city direct are pretty good to book with. Used them twice. Good villas, close to almost everything in Orlando. Fort Launderdale(sp?) isn't too far if you want a good beach to chill out on.

I took my kids this Feb, booked with Travel city Direct who are owned by Virgin, but cheaper. I would defitaley recommend researching on The Dibb. Also its worth buying the american Magic Your Way disney tickets rather than the more expensive ones aimed at the English market. I drove to Clearwater beach for the day, it would be nice to go for longer. Take your own sat nav and car seats, cheaper than hiring them. Also look at the busy day guide planners for the Disney parks and use fastpasses to avoid the queues. Oh and also get a photopass from the official disney photographers. You can join a photopass share on The Dibb which works out a lot cheaper than buying it yourself.

Do universal we thought well better than disney which seemed a bit dated in comparison, disney on a one day pass for 5 of us cost a fortune ...... breakfast at ponderosa, dennys and golden coral for about 5 or 6 dollars fill u up for hours although they are budget breakfast gaffs still ok
Dont hire a satnav, buy one over there much cheaper

After a a few days you will be craving real food instead of stodge
Hire a car much easier to get round
Dont let your mrs go shopping you wont see her again!

You will have a great time

Went to Orlando and Miami last month. Did 5 theme parks in Orlando then minced about in South Beach. Liked Orlando but wouldn't do south beach again.

I've been a couple of times, going again in May. It's ace.

Plan about half of your trip. Day of activity, day of relaxing. Otherwise, you'll come back needing a holiday.

Go to KSC, it's awesome. Both Universal parks and Busch Gardens if you like rollercoasters; be aware that Busch (and KSC) is a fair drive from everything else.

Stay in Kissimmee, somewhere near, but not on, I-drive.

Check out tripit.com for planning; makes life a lot easier. Look at http://www.undercovertourist.com/planning/when-to-visit.html for what to do when in order to minimise queuing (though in December you're pretty off-season).

as bruneep avoid its a small world ride like the plague it will give you nightmares just think the chuckie series of horror movies singing in a high pitched voice it could ruin the holiday!!!!!!!

busch gardens brilliant, and the universal studios, clearwater beach or st petes. Kennedy space centre brill if your into that sort of thing, sea world is prob the best thing there.
disney is good but the other parks are better. and for thrills dont miss an airboat ride theres a place you can do it not fare from the airport.
