specifically not the Berghaus Air 6. Whilst a lovely thing and a good price at Go Outdoors now, the pack size is just too big and it weighs a ton. Really frustrating as I’ve had my eye on it for a while but it would fill the entire boot of my car in one go and take two people to lift it.

It’s not really the direction I want to go with kit so I think I’ll have to steer away from air beam tents and go with more traditional pole structure.

I’ve got a relatively cheap Freedom Trail Kanaka 6 at the moment and like the flexibility of two rooms either side of the living are. However it’s getting long in the tooth now and has been repaired one too many times..

New tent will be used for family trips (three of us) and also trips to Goodwood FoS with my mate (hence why two bedrooms are needed).

Any recommendations for a good quality 6ish man vis a vis style traditional tent?

Thanks
Nick

Bit of a different layout but ideal for 2+1

7kg weight

I’ve had good experiences with wild country in the past.

Thank you db. Interesting take on a 6 man tent and it undercuts the Berghaus by nearly 20kg!

Vango Longleat is a big bigger (8 man) but poled so 5kg lighter than an Air 6 and packs rather smaller too. https://www.attwoolls.co.uk/vango-longleat-800xl-tent-p-2533

Not a common layout these days though, most are bedrooms at the back, living space up front (which I also prefer). We have the older air version of this - https://www.attwoolls.co.uk/vango-stargrove-ii-600xl-tent - and it's been great. Pole one like the link is even lighter and smaller packing than the Longleat, although you won't get as far away from the other bedroom.

We sold our Cabanon Awaya in the summer - canvas monster that served us well but was PITA to erect. I really like canvas/ polycotton as most of our camping is in S France. I agree with you that the pack weights of inflatable tents seems too much to be considered convenient. Many have integral groundsheets too so the weight is not broken up. I ended up getting a Vango Farley in sales for £400, but its a tunnel. Weight and packsize are excellent and has 2 bedrooms. Cheaper one hear.

Robens have the Trapper Twin, reduced with Blacks on ebay.

Thanks @simon_g that Longleat 800 looks quality and it’s bigger than the Berghaus up and smaller down. Win win.

Thanks @djflexure. Totally agree with the inflatable tents not being convenient. I’d have to get a van or a trailer to make it work.. and I’m willing to do neither!
