Can anyone recommend me some new music to listen to?
I havent listened to an for ages. I enjoy artists like:
Neil Young, Russian Circles, Battles, Fugazi, John Frusciante, Four Tet
Janes Addiction have a new album coming out.
Nice variety of quality music there DT.
Currently enjoying - The Rapture, The Kills, Synkro, Instra:mental, TV On the Radio, Crystal Fighters, MartyParty, Eskmo... (need more?)
Following on from Four Tet:
Moderat, Apperat, Explosions in the Sky (awesome!), Helios, Telefon Tel Aviv, Ulrich Schauss, Hammock, Eluvium, The Album Leaf
Thanks guys, had forgotten about this. I'll check out youtube this evening.
Had a look at some of them on wiki and they look promising.
Also, didnt realise TVontheradio had a new album out.
try Last.fm or the related artist feature on Spotify. I found 99% of the new music I listen to through both of those.
I should probably sign up to last fm & spotify, but I CBA!
ha ha, lazy bugger 😉 it will take you two minutes!
How about Bike Helmet by Ween?
Blind pilots , fleet foxes decemberists if you like a folky edge to things
If you like Russian Circles then maybe give Don Caballero a try. Awesome instrumentalness
you mentioned battles. so you must like unlistenable shite. to somewhat temper that, how about my friends' band. here:
Fleet Foxes, Decemberists, Don Caballero, all good but they're all old and listened to before.
Four tet are lush.
try Animal Hospital, Band of Skulls, Big Pink, Yeasayer, **** Buttons, Grouper, Le Loup, Memory tapes, Pedro, 65 daysofstatic (recommended on here) and listen out for the Kitsune Maison compelations, some cool stuff always on those
From the Neil Young/ Fleet Foxes side, try the Redlands Palomino Company, Jeffrey Foucault, William Elliott Whitmore or the Old Crow Medicine Show. All modern country/blues/folk/old-time music, ask well worth a listen in their own right
Stornoway, Bon Iver and Mumford & Sons are beret known but possibilities along that line as well.
I dunno perhaps I asked the wrong question in my original post. Alot of this stuff I've listened to.
What I'm after is either new artists or new albums by old artists I guess.
Or maybe notverywellknown artists that I wont have heard of like peterfile's suggestions.
Cheers Pyro
For a wildcard, also try Ane Brun (in particular, youtube "the treehouse song"). Norwegian, very hard to describe, but very good.
Oh, and while you're on youtube, Brandi Carlile.(the version of "the story" live on Jools Holland) is most excellent. Phenomenal voice.
Couple of new discoveries: Wise Blood (These Wings EP), Little Jinder (some interesting 'pop'), also the Oscillations new album "Veils" is good (as are their old ones).
I'm quite enjoying Tellison at the moment, like the way the lyrics are written.
In particular 'Vermont' by them is excellent.
I'm currently enjoying CapDown! Aint listened to them for a while.
Little Dragon..
Lamb released a new album this year too I believe..
the new primus album is out next week, been listening to it for a few weeks and its as good as anything they have done previously 🙂
Excellent female vocalist with these,

Within Temptation are a good cal l, I got hooked by "Ice Queen" a few years back.
Another wildcard - Manakin. Bahraini rock band, sadly split up after one very good album, but their lead singer, Hassan Bin Rashid, had a new album out called "Jackie Oh No". Nut heard it yet but will be tracking it down soon. For an older track, youtube for Manakin and find "Gun".
Bonobo and Queens of the Stone Age. Maybe some Mr. Scruff too.
