...so 3 of us had agreed on the West Highland Way, but one of us didn't like the faff of getting to the start and from the finish, so we are looking for a new route.
Requirements are as follows:
- 90% off-(tarmac)road
- between Edinburgh and Aberdeen, east and mid Scotland is ok, west coast is out.
- B+B or hostel accommodation
- a loop or an A to B
- not ultra challenging in terms of distance, we are middle aged and not super fit anymore, if we ever were...
Thank you STW.
The Cairngorm Loop but miss most of the inner loop out. When you get to Bridge of Feshie, follow the inner loop as far as Glenmore then rather than heading over Bynack Mor, go past Ryvoan bothy to pick up the outer loop in Abernethy Forest.
You'll get accommodation in the Aviemore/Glenmore area then Braemar which will be roughly at thirds along the route.
Thanks Whitestone that looks perfect. Â About 100 miles distance?
Might be a little bit more, maybe 200km so 120 miles. Something similar is in the Vertebrate guidebook, worth checking that out.
yes Cairngorm loop or Tour de Cairgorms, easy rail access, a loop as requested.
was going to chuck in Great Glen Way or even extension south, but that would class as west coast.
Speyside Way is pretty rolling, reckon whitestone has it.
