Got a road trip coming up soon and I want something to keep my amused whilst driving.
So, I'm after some material I can download (preferably on YouTube Music or in podcast format).

What you got?

For reference, I'm been enjoying Sean Lock (RIP ☹️) recently...

You can just search stand up on Spotify.

I quite like things like desert Island dicks and gossip mongers

Do you like science stuff? I like infinite monkey cage on the BBC. Bit like QI. Interesting and often amusing. Normally a mix of comedians and (popular) scientists on.

Not straight standup, but I'd recommend Smartless, hosted by Jason Bateman and Will Arnett from Arrested Development and Shaun Hayes (Will & Grace) - incredibly funny.

Also Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend, similar celebrity interview format.

Frankie Boyle has a couple of his stand up shows along with recordings of his Guardian columns to download for free on his website.

Saw Mark Thomas at the festival. He'll openly tell you to f......f if you're a Tory and it goes from there.

Just recently discovered him, and he's ****ing hilarious.

Randy Felt Face would probably make good listening on a journey- a good long-form story teller

Give "Randy buys a bookcase on gumtree' a trail listen and if you like that there are some full gigs on his YouTube channel

Stand-up (I reckon) really works much better live than just listening to. I'd go instead for something like the Bugle podcast. I love it.

For sure, but I don't know any stand-up comedians who would be willing to share my car on a road-trip to keep me entertained (and their audience would need to be tiny). So listening to recorded events will have to suffice 😉

Occasionally, I listen to stand up when I've got a very long steep road climb on my bike - the distraction is very welcome!

Tommy Tiernan
And that Jim Jeffries... but strap in makes Frankie Boyle look politically correct.

I quote like informative but funny, have a look on the BBC for Mark Steele's In Town (and some older Mark Steel Lectures on the youtube, its a radio show buts on there)
Another BBC one, Simon Evans Goes to Market.
Radio/podcast will be better than YouTube. I like Tim Vine for example but he does a lot of visual stuff which is hopeless for in the car

Fair point, and I get where you're coming from. I think what I was trying (badly) to suggest was rather than listening to recordings of stand-up routines, maybe listening to comedy specifically done for radio might be better in the car. Like Mark Steel mentioned above. Loads of great stuff on Radio 4 Extra. Ed Reardon's Week is a favourite of mine, and Paul Sinha has some very funny stuff. And anything John Finnemore has ever written is great. In fact I'd say that Cabin Pressure is the best sitcom of all time, radio or TV.

But if it's pure stand-up you're after, personally I like folk such as Mark Watson, Lucy Porter, Henning Wehn, Andy Zaltzman, Phil Wang etc.

I’m loving Troy Hawke at the moment but some of his stuff is kinda visual.

But Sean Lock for the win. Sadly missed but that cheeky smile as he said ‘I like beer’ (or whatever he actually said) is special 😹

saw the title, came on to post Mark Steele's in town but see it's already done. So, +1 to Mark Steele's in town.

And back episodes of ISIHAC (OK, not standup but....)

Absolutely!

Also +1 for Mark Steel

And RHLSTP is great, especially when he has a comedian guest. Try Bob Mortimer and Louis Theroux episodes.

Tom Stade's Meat Van Man routine is fun, better if you can find the blue ep version, the rest of that is bona.

I really like Mark Thomas some of his more recent stuff which is more story telling in style rather than stand up is really good. Not sure if it's available to listen to though. On that note Daniel Kitson is great too things like Stories for the wobbly hearted or the interminable suicide of Gregory church....again not sure if they are available but worth looking for.

Yeah, totally this guy. He's also got a couple of good podcasts worth listening to: 'Your Mom's House' and '2 Bears, 1 Cave'.

Also Mark Normand seems pretty funny from what I've seen of him.

And the Greg Davies one. He's also really funny on Off Menu.

What the **** is going on is another good Mark Steel one.

Other than that, the usual suspects (Buckles, Athletico Mince, Beef & Dairy, Parenting Hell, Elis & John etc)

I like Greg Proops and Marc Maron but I generally prefer podcasts to stand up as I think a big part of stand up is being in the room with other people sharing the experience. Having said that I watched Kevin Bridges on YouTube the other day and I laughed out loud through most of it.

Not really stand up, but very funny and occasionally they chat about sports,
Socially Distant Sports Bar

To get a flavour maybe check out some of the 'Best of' episodes.

Stewart Lee, he doesn't have a podcast though.

His old mucker does and interviews a diverse range of people on it. https://www.comedy.co.uk/podcasts/richard_herring_lst_podcast/

I really enjoyed Its a fair cop by a retired policeman. Very funny and interesting.

Do The Right Thing podcast.

Herring's AIOTM podcast.

Listen to both in chronological order to get the in-jokes.

Ivo Graham, Bobby Mair, Tom Ward (top!), Judi Love, Russell Kane, Glenn Moore, Luke McQueen, Kemah Bob, Reginald D Hunter, Tim Key...
They all make me laugh.

Basically, anyone but Seann Walsh who is utterly shite.

Stewart Lee. Not sure if he’s got any podcasts though.

I dont think he's done any of his own - he's been a good interviewee on a few. His standup is much more visual than you perhaps realise - might not work as well for listening only as you think

Its old stuff now but he was good on Robin and Josie's Utter Shambles

From the same series - Rufus Hound - never been that interested in him as a performer, but any time he's cropped up as an Interviewee on podcasts he's been great

The Miriam Margoyles and Sarah Kendall episodes of Off Menu are absolute gems.

There was me worrying this thread was proof there are no funny women.

East Coast Listening Post (radio show spoofing NPR style podcasts)

Isy Sutte's Love Letters

are good series - made for radio so work well as audio only.

As regular standup I'm quite like Beth Stelling's work at the moment

Yeah, his podcast stuff does tend to be more rants than comedy, but you can always download his stand up stuff, like his Philly stand up 😂

Off Menu is another good podcast. James Acaster and Ed Gamble with a guest. Framework for the comedy/chat is what the guest would order in a dream restaurant. Good ones off the top of my head recently: Bridget Christie, Bob Mortimer, Tim Key, Adam Buxton, Dane Baptiste. But I'm quite new to it, so I've only listened to the ones with guests I knew already.
