Get on eBay and search out the Trojan Records box sets from the 90s (deleted now after they went bust) with compilations covering everything from ska onwards.

Obvs, if you want more recent (by which I mean 70s and 80s British) ska, then don't forget

Go for some original stuff - anything by Roland Alphonso, Don Drummond, Justin Hinds, the Skatalites etc - this box set is a good start:
