I've just upgraded from a woeful Nokia X6 to a Samsung Galaxy Ace, and am now able to explore apps for the first time. Any good freebies to get me going please ?

If you have a Sky+ box then get the Sky+ remote record app.
Very good and convenient for when your out and about.
Dropbox for cloud file storage.
Ebay app is easier than using a laptop.
Facebook.
Amazon Kindle is very good, effectively turns your phone into a Kindle.
Mytracks. (GPS tracking, distance, altitude etc sports app)
Google Maps and Navigation.
Yell. (yellow pages thing)
I downloaded loads when i got the phone but the ones above are all i tend to use now.
If you have a Tivo get the Virgin media schedule App as you can set recordings remotely.
