Another vote for the Kirkstile as well - be sure to bring home a beer carry-out as well.
best by far the walkers pub at the bridge in buttermere.. nice walk rides locally job done
The Queen's Head in Hawkshead is awesome.
Eagle and Child in Staveley, or the Mill at Ings, just up the road.
