Thanks!
Its Christmas, I like some port that's different.
I prefer Taylor late bottled vintage (lbv) to Graham's lbv. I've not liked any own brand port from Sainsbury's, liddle or aldi.
Vintage port is wasted on me. Its nice, but not any nicer than lbv.
Dows (supermarket bought) has almost always tasted like a disappointment. I wish I'd spent the extra £ or two to get Taylor's lbv.
Suggestions welcome
You’d get a nice bottle of Otima for that price but then I prefer Tawny to a LBV, you might not.
Keep an eye out for LBV from either Niepoort or Quinta do Noval, but might be a few quid over £20.
Taylors lbv is £11 on Amazon. Got two 🙂
Too late to edit the title now 😀 :-)
Tawny would definitely be my suggestion. Get some decent tawny out of Australia. Like this:
Niepoort is great, try a Tawny at that price
Or if you want to be a bit different, get the Niepoort white port. In the summer try it in a long glass with tonic and lots of ice and a slice. It's surprisingly very nice 😎
Grahams 20yr old tawny - c£20...for 20cl; but it is rather fabulous!
The 30yr old is even more fabulous.
Waitrose Ruby is my go-to

It also confuses people’s snob glands. Because its own-brand but Waitrose!
Ignorance is bliss Frank, Australian fortified is very well regarded. Not widely available here though and to be fair what I've had was in Australia.
When I was backpacking in Oz I went to a wine and food festival.
I got a glass from the alcohol and drugs council of Australia, where my mate was working. which meant each taste of wine and port was massive.
I got smashed, I think I had some port, I can't really remember. It was all good. Ironic as the glass was supposed to stop people pouring massive measures at home and parties and getting smashed :-)
I've never seen any Australian port since.
I'll give some Austrian stuff a go.
Maybe at £20.00 a bottle, not £2000
Tawny over ruby or LBV every time. Taylor’s is a good start point, the older the better. Keep your eye on Aldi, their Maynard Port is too class but doesn’t come in until nearer Christmas.
I bought this Australian port last christmas, it was excellent.

Sorry, that link is clearly formatted badly! It's £22.50.
M&S Special Reserve. Very good and doesn't cost a fortune. You're welcome.
Regular Port is nice.
Tawny has a bitter aftertaste but still nice.
Ruby is decent but not great with a strong cheese as it's flavour is quite subtle.
Special Reserve tastes the best for me, it is very rich and goes very well with strong cheese.
Double post
@lunge has it. The Aldi one near Christmas was very much appreciated by my Mom who’s always loved a Port at Christmas.
