Am driving two days a week and the vehicle I'm driving has a very stiff clutch, so much so that after I'm finished driving in normal trainers (puma rg1) the ball of my foot is in agony for a couple of days.
Need some trainers with stiff soles but nothing too bulky or thick soled. I was thinking something like merrell intercept but not having felt a pair I dont even know if their soles are that stiff, though given their purpose I'd have assumed they would be.
Any recommendations?
Would a pair of decent boots not do you better? Or, and I am being serious here, something like a pair of leather-soled shoes? I have a pair of brogues that, in addition to looking nice and being comfy, would fit the bill.
I normally tie a 12" x 3" piece of wood to my right foot when in these situations.
DC's or Etnies, or something of the ilk.
I prefer Vans or Nike 6.0's, but they've got more flexy (though still a lot stiffer than your Puma's) soles.
Work grade steel toecap trainers,
Shoe zone usually do some!
Get the clutch sorted?
A forefoot-shaped piece of wood or perspex isn't a bad idea. Loop of elastic to keep it in place, job's a good un.
A bit Heath Robinson, but if there's no other reason why you want to change the trainers or need stiffer soles, it's probably the best option.
What do you normally wear on the bike? try them first 'cos all bike shoes I've ever had are stiffer than other trainers.
If not, perfect excuse to buy a pair of Vans Gravels, or Shimano flatties.
The shimanos even have extra mid sole stiffener plates which you can add if the normal shoe sole isn't stiff enough.
