need some recommendations for new brown smart-casual work shoes/boots.
Ideally waterproof or robust as I do have to head into plant rooms and do walk a lot around site. (don't need to be safety shoes)
Budget is no more than £50 as i'm a bit skint at the moment
Shoes for under £50? Get down to Clarks?
smart casual and brown??? WTF?
Black shoes or boots whatever is comfortable or just get them to buy you some safety shoes.
+1 Clarks actually make some really good shoes, they just suffer from brand image as they were the school shoe kings.
Ohh, this thread'll be fun... 😆
What size are you?
Have two brand new pairs of clarks UK 8 sat here waiting to go on ebay - one brown mid ankle style, one black usual shoe style.
Bothe Gore-tex lined.

ahh subtle difference between '.. smart, casual...' something that is informal buy tidy and 'smart casual' as a category of western dress code which basically means dressing like the royal family on their day off.
Theres a more alarming subtly between 'Undress' in dress code terms and 'Naked' too. I discovered this around the same time that I also learned that 'Stripped to the waist' means to strip down to the waist, not up.
These with new laces work for me (only thing I buy from M&S honest)
Comfy / Waterproof / Sturdy / Work with Jeans or standard issue IT chinos.
Also seem decent value and mine are lasting well

My first thought was a brogue but the waterproof bit threw me.

smart-casual work shoes
brown
Never wear brown in town, dahling.
Shoes for work should be black.
/end thread.

Hmm, I've been wearing blue Salomon trainers all year at work.....
I wear slippers..
But then I own the company
and I work from home 😛
TK Maxx always worth a look.

Brogues are designed for getting wet - the broguing (the zigzag edges and punched holes) is so the leather can dry out more efficiently.

How many times?

Chelsea boots - with waterproofing for extra practicality
Hmm, I've been wearing blue Salomon trainers all year at work.....
They are not shoes. You can wear any colour you like. I have blue Addidas on at present.
Shoes are a different matter.
Anyway, why am I giving out sartorial advice? I am a 42 year old with more fleece gear than smart stuff...
Rockport do a good waterproof Chelsea boot in black or brown, usually about £50 via Amazon or other places. I've had a couple of pairs over the past four years but I've worn them on jobs where I shouldn't and scuffed them up.

Tracky bottoms tucked into your socks?
Have a shufty at a brand called Red Tape for brouges, chelsea boots etc - I've had a few pairs and am very happy with the quality despite the low price...
currently wearing a pair of Red Tape shoes that have disintegrated over the last couple of months, something more sturdy was required
