My first foray into ear buds was a pair of Sony ones which sounded good but wouldn't charge up after about a month of use, so in the bin they went.
Any recommendations for a pair of £50-£60 ones that sound pretty good? Can't afford Apple ones.

I like my Anker Life P2s, which can often be had for around £30. Around a year old and doing fine. I like the fact they have proper buttons, as I find the ones with touch sensors pause all the time with the slightest touch.

Have been using Enacfire E90 very happily for over a year now. The bass is powerful, good for 7-8hrs per charge and the charging case holds enough juice for loads of days. Waterproof. I’m over the moon. If I had to complain then I tend to fumble with putting them back in the magnetic case. I don’t know if airpods are any different. Ace anyway. My other (head)phones are AKG reference quality and I don’t feel hard done by (by comparison) when listening via these earpods 👍🏼

I got a set of UMI from Amazon for 20 quid the other day. I think they’ll be going back though as they cut out occasionally.

Word is that all of the £80 “Used - Very Good” https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07RB7YHWH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_9X3ERNTPHQ8S8QZH0DX R">Powerbeats Pro Wireless Beats earphones on Amazon atm basically just fell of a pallet and are new with battered packaging. Might be worth checking out if you can stretch to them as they are supposed to be amazing.

Obviously send right back if there is even a hint of earwax!

Otherwise a set of £30 Ankers are great but a bit disposable. Thats what I did till I dropped one in a tin of paint. By then I’d saved up enough for some Apple ones (and yes, I’d say they are worth the extra).

I've got some Pixel buds. Not sure what they cost RRP as were part of an upgrade.

Great as multi function headphones (crystal clear for making calls, and a standard of music that's acceptable while walking somewhere) but I find them a bit weak for music playback for any length of time.

By that, do you mean little drop-outs in playback? If so, that’s a BT thing, I read a review yesterday of the latest update of the top Sony headphones, and the review mentioned it happening with those, and I’ve got a pair of Edifier NeoBuds, a pair of MeeAudio Pinnacle P1’s with a BT adapter, and a pair of Taotronics SoundSurge headphones, and all get dropouts.
Personally, I’m just not really bothered about wireless headphones and earphones, I don’t find a cable that much of an encumbrance, and if one falls out, with a cable attached it won’t go far!

Also, BT can’t handle Lossless audio, there isn’t enough bandwidth available, and the difference is noticeable - I’ve actually got two pairs of the Pinnacle P1’s, the other pair have a Pinion Lightning to MMCX cable, and I recently wore the ones with the BT adapter, then wore the cabled pair, and the BT version is noticeably less detailed and ‘softer’ sounding. I’ll try again sometime soon, just to see if it was just an aberration.
What I’m seriously thinking about getting are a pair of Røde NTH-100 studio grade headphones, which are wired, the cable can be attached via either ear-cup, and they’re half the price of BT ‘phones. I don’t care about noise-cancelling, and a remote on the cable is all I need.

Earfun.  We have a couple of pairs of the Pros and one pair of Pro2 in our household. Mine are 12 months old and working perfectly, sound good, cancel noise well.

That is what I mean, but they seem to be much worse than my Aftershokz Titaniums. I wore both for similar amounts of time at the weekend and the UMI dropped out completely several times and dropped out od one bud several times too. The Aftershokz didn't drop out once.

Earfun air pro 2 for me, sound ace, good battery and ANC works well. Newer model now has an app, that would be useful.

There's a good headphone review website here - https://www.scarbir.com/

I bought Aukey EPT a year back or so. For commuting and pottering about (which is all I use them for) they're "fine" and much cheapness, so if I loose one, It's not going to be painful.

those are £150 headphones, great quality, just buy some new rubber end bits if you so fancy (they're probably a never-worn retur)

edit : oh FFS stw, remove that BS.

Buy those Jabra Elite active linked above, ideally before I do. They're great bits of kit and that is a bargain price.

Some great suggestions so thanks everyone. Like the look of the Earfun ones and will have a look at all the others. Might get a pair of Tozo T6 for work seeing as they're so cheap.

Another vote for Jabra Elites - Amazon have the dark blue 65t for £47 at the moment.

Mine are several years old suffering lots of sweaty Turbo use and have been through a washing machine cycle twice now, still working fine.

Why didn't you make a warranty claim?

There was a PSA on here a while back for Anker Soundcore Liberty 2 Pros for £50 (half price). I couldn’t resist and bought them - they’re miles better than any other earbuds I’ve ever had.

Skull candy are crap and tinny (I like a heavier bass line rather then really crisp vocals), I tried a few other branded ones, my wife’s Apple air buds and the Liberty’s are a good step above them for the music I like.

I wear them on the train, when cycling, when running and mostly now on the turbo trainer. They’ve got a thumping baseline, and the case they’re in charges the ear buds. I find I only need to charge the case up every 3 or 4 weeks - it’s really convenient.

I have some anker ones, were about £45 or so, they sound good.
I also have some bose noise cancelling ones, they can be had for £200 on amazon.
The bose are better, but they’re not 4 times better.
Diminishing returns happens with every type of product, there comes a point where paying more doesn’t really give much (or any) more performance.

If you prefer the Airpod style without the rubbery bit (I've never found a pair of rubbery earphones that don't fall out) then SoundPeats Air are worth a look. I got these from this seller half expecting them to be fake, but as far as I can tell they're genuine. Sound way better than they should for the price, decent battery life and they don't fall out of my ears (I wear them when running).

Can't compare them to Apple or similar but they're better than any other in-ears I've had.

I didn't make a warranty claim for the Sony ones because I bought them brand new from someone on ebay. Didn't think it was worth chasing it up without the receipt. Will also take a look at the Liberties now.

I got the jabra 75's a while ago when on offer. My 65's battery life was starting to suffer so I upgraded. Not sure they're much better than my old ones so get the 65's if the price is good

After returning two pairs of the Jabra to marketplace I took a punt on these and can confirm they have definitely never been out of the box before and they both work perfectly which is a huge bonus!! Well happy

I got some Tribit flybuds 3 ~£35. With the right-sized tips on they’re surprisingly good.

Meant to have touch sensitive controls but they’re more miss than hit. That is fine by me.

I have my eye on some WF-1000XM4s but £££
