Comedy that is actually funny would be good (which pretty much rules out anything American).
Big fan of League of Gentlemen, Inside No.9, Spaced, Flight of the Conchords and Plebs.
What do reckon?
Well I just found out one of my colleagues has never watched The IT Crowd, I hope you've seen that.
which pretty much rules out anything American
Watch Brooklyn 9-9 and prepare to eat your words.
This Country on iPalyer. Charming comedy, a bit detectoristy
People just do nothing
If you're a big fan of LOG and inside no9, have you tried psychoville?
Mighty Boosh, IT Crowd, Alan Partridge (inc mid morning matters). And Blackadder (but I’ll assume you’ve seen that).
*American* but if you've got Amazon Prime I thought Loudermilk was excellent.
Flea Bag on the beeb
Love Sick on C4 now on Netflix - I've only seen the first season but there are 3
which pretty much rules out anything American..
"Vice Principals" and be prepared to eat your words... for a US series it's pretty out there.
Father Ted

Black Books

Curb Your Enthusiasm
Parks and Recreation
Master of None
Better Things
Veep
Sorry but they're all American.
Oh yeah Veep is so good.
Parks & rec also but you have to bear with it past season one, it takes a while to warm up - but when it gets going...
Early Doors, best british comedy you've never seen
Still Game. Best Scottish comedy you've never seen.
Toast of London.
Young Offenders on IPlayer now is genius
Young Offenders film is on Netflix.
That’s sorted my rainy afternoon👍
Some cracking suggestions. We re-watched a few choice Peep Show episodes last night.
For new stuff: Derry Girls which has just finished on channel 4 is absolutely brilliant!
just started watching Young Offenders on iPlayer. Uncle is worth a watch on iPlayer to. And any of the Brian Pern spoof Rockumentaries, which are utter genius!
Mighty Boosh and Toast of London are still the funniest things ever created
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is cracking.
Yes I can hear you Clem Fandango
Awesome! That's my viewing for the next decade sorted, then!
I was kind of joking about the American thing - but there is a lot of dross U.S. comedy. That said, I'll try anything once.
'One foot in the grave'
especially the bank holiday episodes where they're stuck in traffic and the one where they shelter in an abandoned van.
of the regular episodes...the one with Patrick's birthday and victors window cleaning.
imho, they couldn't top the one with 'cop-porn', (the dawn of man)..,genius.
Another vote for still game. I am with you on american stuff. Never seen a funny american "comedy"
I'll second binners suggestion of Derry Girls, very good.
And similarly, London Irish, by the same writer.
Bloody weird to say American’s don’t make funny comedies. Bloody weird.
Anyway, Irish, what was that one about the family again? can never remember what it was called, but made by the Father Ted fellas iirc.... gonna look it up
ah good ol Imdb
The Walshes.
It's American but Rick and Morty is sprinkled with genius also
Gits. Had never seen the IT Crowd before
there are FIVE seasons
could be a long weekend...
I've just watched the whole series of ''Plus One' on one of the catch up channels.
I thought it was brilliant and hadn't even heard of it before I stumbled across it.
It was on All Four.
Stewart Lee's comedy vehicle
Adam Buxton's Bug
I really liked Fresh Meat too.
Silicone Valley, Parks and Rec, Rick and Morty.
Phone Shop
Archer
Spaced
It’s American but Rick and Morty is sprinkled with genius also
That’s cos its “Adult Swim”. Check the Adult Swim website for loads... Mr. Pickles for example. Incredible stuff, not for the easily offended, (or fans of One Foot In the Grave)
Sunderland kick off tonight at quarter to eight: our centre backs and keeper are the biggest joke you’ll ever see...
Bluestone 42 for military based purile comedy.
Coupling has just turned up on Netflix, I remember it was fantastic, going to watch a few episodes tonight.
New member on new member not being able to use a forum.
There are some beezer suggestions here, another good one from BBCIII is 'Man like Mobeen'
Another funny one from a few years ago is 'Beautiful people' (UK series not American) and 'Wilfred' was good too.
Ideal
Ideal started well but it got a bit weird later on.
Wasted if you like Spaced. Sean Bean taking the piss is bloody brilliant!
I'd forgotten Wasted, and that reminded me of Witless
Ideal started well but it got a bit weird later on
Only a bit 🙂
Any of the Chris Lilley stuff is good (Summer Heights High, Ja'mie, Angry Boys etc)
Acaster specials on Netflix look good, I watched the first one last night and laughed a lot
i'll second Young Offenders, PJDN, This Country
but my favourite of recent years is Mum. So bloody lovely.
Flowers
I logged in to recommend Toast, but bin dun. I quite enjoyed Josh despite not being a fan of him as a stand up. I've also been recommended, but not watched yet, Back and one called Catastrophe (looks like it won't be my thing, but multi award winning, so I'll give it a go). Currently working through Psychoville.
I second This Country. Just catching up on it.
If you like your humour black, try Flowers.
Oh and if you missed Crashing and Fleabag, they’re a must see.
Inbetweeners
Stand up, Bill Burr and/or Jim Jeffries, youtube or netflix
Toast of London x100
dinnerladies!
The last Rhod Gilberts Work Experience had me wetting myself with laughter.
Man Down is probably the most consistently funny series I've watched.
Taxi ( american comedy of yesteryear) wasn't funny ?...Must have been the alcohol making it so ...
The new religion thread on here ( resurrection episode) is just warming up ( currently at page 3)...worth an "at distance "watch..for those who like to see a good cat fight ..
Second series of This Country on BBC 3. Slow burner, and will resonate with anyone who crew up in a small place somewhere rural.
Taxi ( american comedy of yesteryear) wasn’t funny ?
Canned laughter kills the funny.
Not ideal ..granted ..but Christopher Lloyds character Jim Ignatowski..didnt need that to make him funny ..he just was !
Mum and The detectorists
What would people say are the best sitcoms on Netflix?
The This Country Kerry birthday episode was utter comedy genius. Selling your birthday, class.
