Currently using a Wiley fox but keeps switching itself off and the camera often crashes.
Looking up to about £200 although could go more if needed, good battery would be a bonus.

There are so many options out there depending on what you want.

Have a look at this guy on Youtube:

He doesn't fanny around too much, just gets to the point & his reviews are easy to watch.
He does quite a lot of budget comparison videos for Android devices.

This vid is probably particularly relevant:

I'm really happy with my Xiaomi mi A2 . Battery has never lasted less than a full day .

Would like a camera as good as a new iPhone though.

Motorola G8+ is 240 quid tops, and bloody good, had it for a couple of months now, I'm never buying expensive phones again.

If you are after a great camera in a reasonably budget phone - Argos have the Pixel 3a for £299, so over-budget but a fantastic camera.

Only fly in the ointment there is that the new 4a is only £50 more with completely updated specs including better camera, bigger screen, double the storage, more RAM etc.
I've got one arriving on Monday. First time I've ever bought a phone that wasn't a real cheapie or end of line, so looking forward to trying it out. It'll also be the first time I will be using the latest operating system on a device, since my HTC desire (~2008!?)

This.

Mrs CFH has one, and it's superb.

Xiaomi Poco X3 seems to be popular at the budget end. It's a bit too big for my tastes, though. Still looking for a decent, not huge phone

Watch the size, I've got an A70 and it's a bit too big - it won't fit comfortably in a front pocket (which a Wileyfox certainly will). It's lovely to have a huge screen when you're sitting down using the phone, but not so good when it's digging into your leg while you're driving...

Out of budget, but the Samsung S10e is the business.

I have. Pixel 3aXL and absolutely loathe it. Can't wait for the contract to run out in five months so I can get rid of it.
As he says, the camera is great, but the rest of it is execrable.

I just got a Xiaomi redmi note 9, came from a Motorola which was good but became problematic after 3 1/2 years.

I was stuck between the Xiaomi and the G8 but went with the Xiaomi as it was better spec. I'm impressed so far, phones have certainly improved a lot in 4 years.
