Preferably circular, but can drive to the start/finish.

Looking for a max of around 5-6 miles for certain reasons and as interesting/scenic as possible. Going Friday evening - Sunday morning, so will only get one in

Used a bus, but did walk from Whitby to Robin hoods bay along the coast a few (maybe 5) years back. It was a lovely walk, steep sections and slippery in places, smashed it down with rain too, but I loved it (not everyone in the party did though).

Coastal path either way, bus to Runswick or Robin Hood's bay and walk back. Check tide times though as part of it is along the beach at Runswick.

Whitby Brewery's IPA is absolutely exceptional and can only be had at the brewery, they've a pretty good sound system too.

Another recommendation for the tap room by the Abbey, worth getting hold of some gin too of you spot it. Not cheap, but a firm favourite of all the people I know who've tried it.

Unfortunately, I'm not an ale drinker. Tried, tried, tried, nope

You could also go fossil hunting, there’s lot of sites along the coast up and down from Whitby and also at Whitby

School holidays the bus from RHB to Whitby can get busy. I'd get the bus out to RHB, spend some time fossil hunting on the beach between RHB and Boggle Hole and walk back either on the cliff path or the Cinder Track inland.

Buses aside, I was just about to ask which direction is the best walk - will be cliff path?

Cliff path is the nicer walk but has more up and down bits. Cinder Track goes inland and goes over a Viaduct over the River Esk with views down to Whitby. Doesn't really matter whether you go North- South or vice versa.

stayed in a cottage, couple of weeks back, just & I mean just, around the corner from that last pic. RHB what a lovely place, hope you had the F&C from the bottom chippy (mmmm beef dripping F&C's)

Edit: If your in Whitby any longer the 'in search of Dracula' walk was amusing (though we went on it 8 odd years ago and not our last visit)

We guessed the bottom one would be the best, but there were about 15 people waiting, so we went to the top. I don't like F&C in dripping in any case

Back home now, only went Friday evening to Sunday. Stumbled across Saltburn food festival on the way back
