Got to be an upright and not a vax or dyson. Had dysons since the dc01 and they just don't last so time for something else. I'm thinking sebo, any others to consider?

Thanks.

Dunno what you are doing wrong with your Dyson; ours has lasted for ages. And if it does go wrong or break, spares support is great too.

And for balance; I know where you are coming from with dysons, overhyped, over priced rubbish that doesn't suck. You pay for a name not a tool.

Well, my Miele vacuum cleaner has proved to be far more reliable than both their washing machine and fridge freezer. 😕

We've still got a DC01 from 20 years ago, still gets daily use

Dyson - Pants

Henry - Rocks!
Yes you have to change the filters, but te suction is much better than a Dyson (and no were near as loud or high pitched).
Henry picks up everything from kids food to brick pieces.

Pretty sure I'm going for a sebo, thanks for the replies.

ahwiles which vorwerk do you have and how much, site is a bit confusing. Does look a bit dyson style gimmicky though.

Got a Sebo Felix (60s retro looking thing) that sucks like a goodun. Good Which reviews but the attachment hose is too short and it is heavy, feels bombproof. No idea how it compares to Dyson but it's miles better than the Panasonic ones.

I have no advice, but the pedant in me approves of the use of the word 'vacuum' here instead of 'hoover' 8)

Too many people refer to it as 'doing the hoovering' when in fact they're more accurately 'henrying' or 'dysoning' instead.

(yes I should probably get out more).

I understand completely where you're coming from, pet hate of mine iPod for mp3 player, jeep for 4 wheel drive vehicle etc. yeh I should get out more too.

Looked at the Felixstowe but bag capacity quite small compared to others sebos. Think it'll be the X1.1 or x4.

I'm not used to getting enthusiastic about a vac, but this will do it.

Our Dyson is on its last legs and I won't be buying another, weak suction, flimsy and noisy. I'm tempted to try a Vax upright next.

Dysons here too, only replaced the old one as got a higher specced one in a sale. Gave our original away and it's still going strong, our second one is used to clean out ash from the woodburner as well as vacuuming the house. They're spot on just clean the filters if the suction drops a bit.

Unfortunately, as per my recommendation & UH's, the Miele Cat & Dog is not an upright.. as per the OP request. Though I'd protest that it a much better vacuum for not being an upright, the attachment are very good.. To add to that, I almost gave myself a hernia picking up the miele upright.

As for the Henry, there very poor overall, yes they'll work fine with brick dust but they won't filter anything from coming out the back end (unless you get a fancy version).. Others do a much better job.
I recently got give my fathers Henry and thought I'd give it a whirl on the car, it was rubbish absolutely rubbish, I threw it in the garage and got the Miele out & did the job properly.

EDIT: We tried a new VAX upright the other day (clearing up after being into my tenants loft) & were very impressed by the performance.

Nothing wrong with a Henry but I don't want a cylinder vacuum as they are useless for pet hairs in my experience.

oh yes there is (there crap)

..and you haven't tried a Miele Cat & Dog if you think a cylinder can't deal with pet hairs.. 1 very moulty white dog and dark blue carpets along side 3 cats and 2 long haired ppl in our house old and yes it deals with it admirably & has done for the last 3-5 years.
