You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I'm progressing the build of a timber garden office. This was purchased from a reputable supplier in County Durham and was treated with a timber stain and instructions to coat again within three months of erection.
I'm looking to both stain then apply a preservative which I believe will be done form of satin varnish, but not being very experienced in paint / preservatives, I'm looking for advice.
I want the finish to be something like this:
I want matte or satin and don't want to have to re treat every year.
Anyone with practical experience who can advise?
I'd just use Barrentine log cabin preserver. Easy to apply and just top up when needed. Gives a nice clear for finish and is oil based for extended wood life
What finish does this give? Do you have a photo by any chance?

What finish does this give?
A happy ending
It's not a stain. So depending on the current state of the wood it just brings the colour out.
You would probably end up one shade darker than you are now.
I'll try and find a photo later as I'm off out now.
