Children broke my long suffering suitcases. Need to get two now, fairly quickly as well.
What’s good now, last time I bought some was a very long time ago, think one was a Tripp, the other a samsonite.
Would prefer some that will last quite some time, as it’s super boring buying luggage. Quick google and the cases have got thinner, rubbish zips, blah blah.
Save me having to google the crup out of this. Would like something secure.
What would STW recommend?
Having had Eastpak Tranverz as Cabin luggage for a good few years and showing very little signs of wear I went with these for hold luggage last time. Folds out, only has 2 wheels and nicely recessed so less likely to get broken by the baggage chimps than the poncy 4 wheeled ones. Lots of handle on outside to make it easy to lift. Various sizes and colours available.

Was going to suggest Pelican Air; should I have the opportunity to fly anywhere, that’s my first choice. Possibly in orange, easy to pick out of a sea of black, grey and blue.
My Røde headphones only came with a soft bag, so I’ve bought a Pelican case with custom foam insert to protect them. My wallet is a Pelican Sport as well.
Thanks, been advised I’ll be travelling alone if I get the pelican stuff. Probably not too practical for family vacation stuff either
A few years ago I got a bright yellow, 110L roller duffle bag from family for Christmas. It's eye wateringly expensive (just looked now), but is the absolute champion for easy rolling, admiring glances, toughness, and spotability on the carousel. Holds plenty, when stuffed with clothes and shoes is pretty much bang on 23kgs.

Whatever Briggs and Riley case suits your needs, best bit of luggage we have (and we seem to have lots for just a couple!).
We have a bunch of eastpaks in different sizes. You can often find an unpopular print in the sales. No wear on them at all after 9 year use on the oldest pair, and I fly quite a lot
LMFAO at the Pelican. The biggest suitcase style is significantly smaller for the same price as that Eastpak and weighs 8kg! Unless you're sponsored and have your luggage paid for that can get in the sea (or not as even with a seaman's allowance I wouldn't have wasted it on that).
I see a huge amount of cabin crew at work using Tripp luggage. Makes me think it must be decent quality stuff.
Another vote for Eastpak Tranverz. Mine has been faultless for years.
I can't believe how expensive suitcases are. We need a new big one, as the zip is beginning to tear away from the 'body' of the suitcase after 20 years. Is anyone getting rid in the South East?
Not cheap but very good. 123 litres.
Bought one about 10 years ago. It has been dragged across barges and ships decks, up and down ladders, rolled across bumpy roads and looks exactly the same as it did. Not 1 zip broken.
Buy cheap buy twice.
I really like Dakine Split roller bags. We have two. They seem pretty bulletproof to me and marginally less boring than 'normal' suitcases.
Some nice options above. I bought a rigid 2 wheel hard shell Samsonite years back. It’s bomb proof but being rigid, it has no give. When returning from hol case is fuller and a PITA having no flexibility. Go soft !

I really wanted a samsonite hard case, with the old style locks and no zips. But not cheap and not that flexible for when you’ve got more stuff coming home.
Did also look at some very nice suitcases, but all silly money tbh.
So I got two blue Tripp suitcases, the large and medium. They did the job and survived the baggage handlers, fek knows what happens in baggage handling as they’re both marked as if they were dropped from 30’ repeatedly.
When did luggage get so expensive, or maybe I’m just out of touch.
Just buy whatever is on offer in txmaxx and wrap it in gorilla tape ...problem solved?
I've never really seen the point in buying expensive luggage, it's gonna get scuffed and battered anyhow.

I use a Vango convertible 80ltr backpack for hold luggage these days... think I paid about £50 for it.
There are the Lomo 120l holdalls as well, think they're only 40 quid.
Crew use Tripp because it was cheap and Debenhams fixed /replaced it for free. It’s ok - I’ve got one. (Because it was cheap, and Debenhams …….)
Luggageworks will be my next and final bag, when I head back to long haul flying.

Pelican would have been my suggestion. That’s what I’d likely get if I didn’t already have some entirely fine Samsonite cases. A carry-on and a few of probably the next size up. These ones clip shut rather than zip-up. I don’t like zip up cases.
They have endured family holidays and business trips well.

easily solved by buying another case when away. Some trips to the USA I had a carry-on and small bag going out and added a suitcase [edit or holdall] for the way back.
Suitcases for buttons on eBay if you want used. If you can be bothered to order replacement wheels or locks, you can get "broken" ones for nothing
I've had a TravelPro carry on case for about 10 years. It was used weekly for 3yrs before the lockdown. Showing no signs of wear and can be had for £120.

Seriously though, I didn't realise you could actually get parts for cases though if you spend decent money on one it makes sense to have spares backup.
