Need a <£100 stylish leather satchel to cart my laptop about, ideally brown, not with a polished look. Needs to compliment an executive Sales orientated persona. 🙂

WHY?

I've had one of these for years:

Slightly over budget, but I'd buy another from Henry if it ever wore out (I don't think it ever will).

Are these too polished for you?

They're just over budget, but probably meet the specs you are looking for.

Otherwise, you end up in the soft-sided range. I have a really nice one from White Stuff that cost just under a hundred, but it is soft and would not accommodate a laptop very well due to the weight.

Just plank for a few minutes and you will go off the idea of a satchel.

I like both options, thanks. chrisHeath - do you have the double or single buckle closure? I can't help thinking the double is better in some way - more secure? - but the single quite convenient.

Those Cambridge Satchel Co ones look like you stole them from a schoolgirl.

Only because they don't have a pretentious pre-used look. They're supposed to be well-enough made that they last for many many years, and so eventually take on a beaten look of their own.

I've got the double buckle with internal divider (so it looks like the bottom picture on the web page, but without the additional front pocket).

It's quite soft leather (at least, it is now after several years) but a laptop fits quite nicely in the rear section next to the slip pockets.

What a shame, we've just thrown out t'other half's old school satchel - real vintage too. Could have sold it to Kryton for loadsamoney.

Thanks ChrisHeath, My current (broken) one is soft and fine but a little more ridgity would be good to stop the LT moving about.

I don't want it completely rigid and digging into my hip as I surf the Tube!

If you're in London, I think you can get Henry Tomkins 'branded' stuff at Custom Leather at Camden Lock.

executive Sales orientated persona

as anything else just sounds too weird

Can I have first refusal when it turns out to be not quite what you had in mind?

I ended up buying the medium version of this, and by gosh for £70 it's awesome. Padded LT compartment, padded iPad mini compartment, a total,of 10 (2 zipped) compartments inc 2 side pockets. It's stiff enough to stand up on its own but does bend slightly to mould to your hip when wearing it.

Thanks for the link, thoroughly recommended!
