What is it with roofers (and everyone else in the building trade) just completely vanishing after the initial contact?
There's room for a massive rant here.
Suffice to say I have now spent a couple of months trying to get my roof repaired, the last 3 roofers I've tried have all taken my details and then not responded to anything else for weeks.
I have tried calling:
Roofer 1: very (suspiciously) cheap quote. Says scaffolding to fix the chimney will cost £4000 (!), but will do whatever he can reach without scaffolding for a couple of hundred extra. Don't like the idea of this guy, been bitten by cowboys too many times.
Roofer 2: Seems good, I think his quote is very expensive though so would like to get one other.
Roofer 3, 4, and 5: "Sure, send me your address and I'll come and have a look early next week"
Cue 2+ weeks of silence and pointless chasing them before giving up.
TLDR:
Anyone know a good roofer covering Salford who will actually show up and have a look?
Yeah been going through the same exercise in Chorlton...It seems an endless round of call them, they come 'round to have a look, then nowt. Really annoying!!

Did a great job on mine.
Roofers are flat out in nw, we waited a year but tbf he did warn us. The roof had been poorly repaired a few times over the years, we really should have gone for a complete replacement at the beginning of the problems. Our roofer was local, just 1 man and his assistant. Really good clean job.
We got a few quotes, some I wouldn't let anywhere near the house. I went to see the previous work of the guy we used, you really get what you pay for, don't go cheap it's a roof. Just look for recent reroofs and knock on the door, see who did it.
