as title, staying up near whitehaven with the wife for valentines, looking for nice place to eat nice food...
I think Zest was the main place to go in Whitehaven, haven't worked down that way for a bit though so haven't heard any mention of it lately.
Caspian on the main street has a very nice interior, but the food is only okay/good.
Just around the corner is a tasty Italian, Casa Romana.
Some of the best food is served in a pub, the Vagabond close to the habour.
You'll find the Harbourside there as well, probably a bit more expensive than the others...

How near (ie how close to somewhere else?)
Some good pubs in the villages around and over towards cockermouth
Take your bike or walk back to your digs you don't wanna be catching a taxi.
food at the Vagabond v.good
failing all of that the Cornish Pasty Shop gets my vote.
thanks people, distance not too much of a prob as the wife will be driving 😆
Another vote for Zest here - you might have problems trying to book so close to valentines though...

The Spice Club in Cockermouth is my favourite Indian restaurant, can't say I've been anywhere that does a better curry.
The staff are really friendly too, I'd book for a weekend though.
Zest.. Last time I went it was great.... Well apart from the company... Oh hello AD, didn't see you up there! 😀
The wild olive just up the road in gosforth
There are restaurants in Whitehaven 😯
Bloody hell its almost civilisation now. I sse to visit with work often in the early 90's and you'd often struggle to find a pub open on a winters' mid-week night.
How about spoons on Thursday night I think it's 2 for 1 still.
Get sorted and book the kirkstyle and try for a table near the fire.
+1 for the Vagabond.
