It's about time I got a new game as I'm just using the PS as a media player at the mo.
What's top of your list? Previously played games include Tomb Raider, God of War, Assassins creed, GTA5, Red Dead Redemption etc so something along those lines would be good...

a few years old now but Metal Gear Solid 4 is still my favorite game. stealth action type game so not a million miles away from assassins creed.

The Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (I think there has been another one out since then). You can pick it up for about £15 now. Good arcade type racing, lots of drifting and crashing, police pursuits etc.

Best when you're playing against a friend.

I bought the last Call of Duty(not the new one) a couple of weeks ago, did it really quick, bit disappointing. GTA 5 is good, takes ages and quite varied but I know very little of gaming.

I've always enjoyed the ssx snowboard series, it's tricky!

Think it comes as a 2 game pack with Ico as well. Double bargain.

Shadow of colossus & ICO +1. Incredible games.

The Portal games are in my top 5 PS3 games, funny, challenging, brilliant!

The Last of Us gets repeatedly recommended to me, or you could try Borderlands.

Dark Souls is brilliant. Properly hard though

If you like GTA then how about Skyrim

Portal 2 and Last of Us are great suggestions too

Did you like RDR? Would you like a game with less restriction on where you could go with Zombies, monsters, modern weapons and everything a bit post-apocalyptic? Oh and more humour and lots of little details that make the game really enjoyable, plus the ability to build the character the way you want it to go….

Welcome to Fallout!

Fallout3 has the better storyline and DLC, but is a bit clunkier to play than -

Fallout: New Vegas, which is smoother to play but not quite a good storyline and gameplay.

I’d suggest FO3 then FO:NV, get the GOTY editions from Amazon for ~£15 rather than using the PSstore, I found RDR too slow, whereas the Fallouts were perfect (ruined the simple GTA games for me though).

Or you could go Skyrim, which is similar to above but with swords and sorcery and the legendary edition (all DLC) is only £22 on amazon.

Want more Guns? more fast paced but silly action? – light hearted evening relief? Borderlands! #3 (The pre-sequel) has just been released but 1&2 still have loads of people playing on the servers (it’s easier to get further playing on-line as the weapons/monsters scale with the number of players), once again the GOTY editions are dirt cheap on amazon. Pick the type of play you want from the basic chars and then you can keep them broad spectrum or specialise to mental levels of badassery!

Dark Souls 2 is a bit more accessible than the original - I think better for it.

Big fan of Skyrim too and the Fallout games

... basically what Saccades said^

Also the Orange box which is Half Life 2 and Portal - both excellent games, is an oldie but goody...

Edit - I've just looked it up and realise it's 7 years old (time flies...) - so maybe will not have stood the test of time..

I would recommend The Last Of Us, but it runs the risk of ruining every other PS3 game you play afterwards.

Thanks chaps. I should be able to get a few as I'll look on eBay and pre-owned.
Last of us, Fall Out, Collosus and Borderlands added to the list 🙂

I bought Final Fantasy 7 on ps store for a fiver, if you can live with the graphics it's a briliant game, especially good to replay if you played it when it came out almost 17ish years ago and remember how great it seemed!
A good 60 hours gameplay there

Just don't play it on a 42" TV, you can't make out what all the different pixels are!

+1 Uncharted trilogy. Isn't there a new one next year? As a big TR fan I was initially skeptical but found them all a hoot.

+1 Shadow Of The Colossus 🙂
