You seen anything lately that you would recommend? Not overly fussed about genre.

I quite liked Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise....and I'm really not a fan of Mr Cruise.

Just pop your brain on the shelf before you start watching it.

The last thing I watched was The Raid 2.

I have never, ever previously seen fisticuffs of that caliber.

Unrelenting, and in that way, quite brilliant.

They Live

A weird movie from the 80s. Directed by John Carpenter and starring Rowdy Roddy Piper it's the story of a drifter who finds some magic sunglasses which let him see behind the curtain and see the aliens who run the world and their subliminal control messages.

Sounds weird, but a great (and rare) piece of 80s liberal American social commentary cinema.

Like Hobo with a Shotgun, but not, you know, shit.

Another vote for Edge of Tomorrow.
While we're on Tom Cruise and SciFi I really liked Oblivion as well.

+1 for all of the above (strangely). That hat-trick of wonder will keep you going for an evening.
Bonus Material:
[url=

Chaser (korean revenge thriller)
[url=

(early film from the director of OldBoy et al - hilarious, sad and poignant in equal measure)
Mesrine - a 2x movie biopic of a French gangster, I have no idea how I'd never heard of him before considering the daring things he got up to across two continents. As gripping as the american gangster films of the 70s/80s - I can't think of much higher praise.

This means war was good. Also Savages, directed by Oliver Stone.

Snowpiercer

I watched that on a whim last month. Thought it was a kids fantasy film.

Was quite wrong there.

Saw Dallas Buyers Club last night. The premise sounds heavy (and it is), but it's surprisingly entertaining. Matthew McConaughey's excellent. Between that and Wolf of Wall Street, it seems he can act all of a sudden.

Check out Mud if you haven't seen it yet. It was the start of the renaissance.

I do so hate agreeing with Jamie.

Watched on a flight recently, and very much enjoyed it (Brain left in the bottle in the lounge!)

Also, watched both 21 and 22 Jump Street, both of which were enjoyably silly.

I watched 22 jump Street last night and loved how it just didn't take itself seriously. They are both worth a watch as they are so daft. TMNT is a good action romp.

Watched Zombeavers drunk on Halloween don't know if I could recommend it though.
Yeah, it's about zombie beavers, I wasn't really expecting schindler's list.

A Hijacking. Danish with subtitles, pant-wettingly tense.
