I currently make coffee using a dripper, which is fabulous.

Being a toff I usually add cream, but as I am always running out of cream and am also trying to be a good boy and eat healthily I do not wish to continue doing this.

So I thought I will try hot milk. Has anyone tried/ got a standalone frother? Are they good? A faff?

PS Coffee snobs who abhor the poison that is milk please remain silent.

We have a couple of the Nespresso ones - work well and relatively easy to clean (you can't immerse them).

I have a manual milk frother. Like a cafetiere style. Just pump the handle up and down, makes quite a lot of foam anyway, and pretty quick. Can heat it on the hob.
Works fine with soya milk.
Cheap enough, and better than needing another device plugged in in the kitchen.
Something like this. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32874596285.html

Plenty of reviews say that Bodum has very fragile glass. I'd rather go for stainless steel.

I used a Bodum for a while, it's handy to be able to just bung it in the microwave. I generally use the steamer on my espresso machine now (with mixed results tbh), but the Bodum worked every time.

Pick one of the Aldi versions of the Nespresso if you can. Had ours for years now, use it everyday and it's brilliant. Mother in Law has a Nespresso and had to replace it under warranty twice in about the same amount of time.

Bodum Glass frother here - 2 mins in microwave and then a good pumping, then bung in dishwasher. Mrs OTS (who is not the most careful of people) has only managed to break 2 in about 5 years.
Had an aluminium one for the hob, but milk can stick in that at the bottom.

lavazza modo mio frother

Mine is the older version and still going strong. Used everyday, practically with every coffee. Has "thingy" that is rotated by a magnet.

I given up ice-cream as well. But use the froth as a subsitute (even though its warm). Apple crumble with a dollop of froth on = good.

*God I miss Ice Cream 🙂
