Had a fairly disastrous few months and now I'm out the other side of it I'm looking to book a log cabin for a mini break where I can just do nowt for a few days other than chill out.

Criteria is this:

Not mega expensive (i.e. centerparcs £2k for 5 days)
Must have roaring log fire
the dog would be welcome
have nice views
sleeps 2 at least..

I know I can count on the well travelled cultural STW types so no premier inn links please 😆

I stayed at this house last November and it was fantastic.

The cottage next door - "the retreat cottage" is probably more like what you are looking for. Wonderful area.

Also it is less a log cabin, more a traditional cottage done up by an architect.

The owners are distantly related to me, according to my mum.
Have stayed here. Lovely spot.

I will second Avon Tyrrell - a yout activity centre but the log cabins tend to be quiet in winter. Gives you access to the New Forest, the beaches, climbing walls, archery, gravity track, permenant (weateher resistant) trails as used by the Big Bike Bash.

And all you money goes to Charity. Mention the Big Bike Bash if you do book please!

Both Hoseasons and Sykes cottages have filters for your criteria, so browse those. You will easily find something for less than £300 a week. We have used both and had no problems. (Note that in the Hoseasons site, you can remove the region filter once you have made a search and filtered by something else like "pet friendly".)

If you are southern / central, this place was lovely and quiet and includes a hot tub for less than £400 for a week (£430 with a dog). We did a short break (5 nights) in March and were very impressed, friendly owners, given some chicken and goose eggs and a few local beers and ciders in the fridge when we arrived.
