My local homeless charity need to set up an audio visual presentation system, and we're looking for some sort of stand we can put a 40" LCD TV on (Sony Bravia) along with a Dell PC to serve up the content (stills, powerpoint presentations and video information)
Believe it or not, everything has gone together without a hitch except for the stands - hell how expensive!!!
Anyone got any suggestions - we're actually thinking of making our own stands
This is the kind of thing we're looking at (minus the keyboard) [url=

I make this sort of thing as part of my day job. The costs for the commercial stuff comes from the security features and the styling. If you can live without that those it's pretty simple to put something together. Will there be someone supervising it or is it unattended in a public place? I often build prototypes from kee klamps, would that be enough? If not a plywood/mdf box and a coat of paint is the next option. If it is for a one off event might be worth contacting some exhibition companies as they rent this stuff out and might be feeling generous. If you are near Bristol I might be able to help you put something together
nickjb - thanks. They are to be used inside a huge hall (think church hall thing) where people have access. One will be in reception. I don't think security is too much of an issue. If someone is strong enough to pick it up then I don't think anyone is going to argue with them!!!
I think the 'professional made boxy' idea is the way ahead
I'm in Brighton
Once again, thanks for yr input
