i5 with 6gb.
Hdd depends how much storage you want but 1tb is plenty.

Have no idea about RAM, HDD and software updates but just got a new Surface Pro 4 for a business venture and it is absolutely the Dog's B*ll*cks!!

Definitely get a old state drive. Much faster, capacity is less though.
