As the title says really.
My eldest is outgrowing her 24” Orbea so I’m planning on getting her a new bike for her birthday.
so far I’ve been looking at the
Scott spark 700 future pro(on the absolute top end of budget), Mondraker Factor(no dropper as standard but not a massive issue) and the YT Jeffsy Primus(maybe a little too much travel and can’t sit on/demo one).
Is there anything else that worth me looking at?
thanks.
The spark 700 is a tidy bike. Junior tuned forks and dropper too.
We had one that went through both my boys albeit raceday upgraded.
Yeah I’m kind of leaning more towards the Scott but it is a decent bit more expensive than the others.
Age might matter a bit here, but I’ve just bought at Specialized Status 140 for my 11 yo. What finally persuaded me into that choice was that we had a ride on one at the LBS, and contrary to my expectations he got on well with it (S2 sizing). He’s got on well enough with it the he’s now competed in his first race and done ok. I do think that at that age being able to sit on a bike and try it out for size is well worthwhile.
Yeah I did actually think about getting an xs trek top fuel because she’s 150 cm but when she sat on an xs trek in a shop the top tube was far too long for her.
she’s 9 in June so think a kids bike would be best for at least another couple of years.
