just as per title. It has to have at least been released on DVD. The wife's out this evening and she hates horror so I thought I'd indulge.

Thanks

This 'Mother' looks good. anyone seen it? relatively famour cast, does this mean it'll be shit? they wouldn't want to waste that star billing on a film that's niche horror.

I loved 'mother' but be prepared to be tested if you don't like unconventional films.

Not quite a horror. A drama with horrific moments.

I watched that but can't remember it. I think that I liked it at the time but doesn't seem to have stuck with me...

The Ritual is quite good and was on Netflix.

The Strangers (not from last year) is a tense stripped back horror.

Watched Hereditary Friday night, another not very conventional Horror film. but very good (wife thought the ending was pretty weak but I liked it).

Annabelle Creation as above was good, but slightly dampened by the fact I'd missed Anneabell somehow, but as it's a prequel to that, no biggie.

The Strangers Prey at Night isn't a patch on the original, and quiet cheesy, but I liked it all the same.

Not sure if Get Out was within the last year but that was a cut above the average.

The Ritual is ok, but not a patch on the book which i found phenomenal!

Hereditary is supposed to be The horror film to watch just now.  I've not seen it though.

I'd recommend Unfriended: The Dark Web, for something a bit different.

The Eyes of My Mother is a disturbing piece of freaky weirdness. Not sure if I'd actually recommend it!

I saw the prequel to The Thing a couple of months back. Well good.

^ ooh, good call - The Thing prequel is most excellent and not a long film but start to end quality!

If you enjoy The Ritual by Adam Neville you should also check out his Banquet for the Damned, it's in a similar vein...

Just watched that off Film4. Was quite fun, loved the way it just got stuck in. Filled in the backstory as it went along, but no waiting around for the action!

Sky+'ed the prequel too. Well, Film4 said it was the prequel, but I can't find it on IMDB.

A quiet place is one of the best films of the last few years, let along horror films.

Guessing Ewan hasn't seen many films in the last few years 😉

Either that or the circumstances I saw the film in rather ruined it. (Noisy cinema).

But the ending and the actual monster puts it way down the list for me.

I watched the ritual and really enjoyed the first half, the build up of suspense was good but the latter part was lacking...ending in a standard run away from the monster type stuff, very disappointing. Also, the monster was terrible.
