You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Near the Southampton Bike Park, inside the sports centre, there is an old boating lake that is no longer being used and the council plan to turn it into a Pump Track, Skate Area and Childrens Cycle Skills area. The risk is that they build a little skate park - like the many others around Southampton - a little pump track - like other under-used ones - and then have a flat area of tarmac for children to learn to ride with each seperated so lots of wasted space between them.
I want to make sure they don't build 3 little areas but rather build a big, integrated area capable of hosting national/international pump track races with skills areas and skate specific bits. This will mean a single big park for everyone to use.
I am in touch with the council and will be involved in the planning but I know from my experience with getting the Southampton Bike Park built, they love petitions with lots of signatures, preferably from a wider geographic area to show it will draw people into the facility and also ideally including women and other under-represented cycling groups.
I have dropped paper petitions around a few of the local bike shops but want to get an online one going to.
What is the easiest and best site/tool to do this that is FREE?
Isn’t Change.Org free?

In our case here in Warwickshire, the main incredibly vocal minority opposed to bike trails being built on a former golf course in the town tried to use that exact thing AGAINST the scheme.
I rallied and got support from the good people of this forum at the time of planning to sign in the positive for the scheme on the local planning portal.
The main protagonists in the anti-bike trails propaganda onslaught tried to use those signatures in the negative, saying that the town would be descended upon with hordes of mountainbikers from all over the country coming here in their vans in droves to a tiny little hill in Leamington spa 😂
Hilarious, but maybe a consideration in a petition concerning local... concerns.
(Although obviously Southampton is massively bigger than the place I'm talking about)
Kayak - I can argue both sides of that case fluently and am fully prepared. It took far more to get the original bike park created when I was destroying up a nice grass slope for all those horrid children to ride in the mud. Apparently I was destroying the only place in the Outdoor Sports Centre that you could have a picnic and was told to my face that I had done more damage to Southampton than Hitler. Facing this barrage I could understand why this was the first change to the Sports Centre for over 35 years.
This time is different. The council are backing it fromt he start and have already got preliminary planning permission and funding for it. I just want to make sure then build something excellent rather than lots of poor bits and pieces to appease everyone.
Can someone check this works before I send the link out to everyone - feel free to sign up while you are there.
That works
